Their dynamics are all very different from one another, bringing the vibrant world of Kingdom Hearts that fans love so much to life and adding depth to the narrative when it could have just been a simple Disney and Fi⭕nal Fantasy crossover. 7 𓃲 King Mickey, Donald, Goofy ✱

Disney Trio

Donald and Goofy are loyal to their king right from the start of the series, joining Sora's journey in the first game because he has the Keyblade and Mickey instructed them to follow the Key bearer. They're almost loyal to a fault, though, leaving Sora when Riku takes the Keyblade from him.

The connection between these three is pretty constant throughout the series, and it's difficult to imagine that anything could break apart this iconic Disney trio. That said, with their friendship being so steady, it doesn't have much of an impact on the story itself, which is why fans have connected with other trios more.

Dandelion Trio

Lauriam, Strelitzia, and Elrena are members of the Dandelions in the Kingdom Hearts Union X mobile game. Lauriam and Strelitzia are naturally close, as Lauriam is Strelitzia's older brother, and they have a number of sweet scenes together in the game. After Strelitizia goes missing, Lauriam reaches out to Elrena, as he knows they used to go on missions together.

While we don't really see the full potential of this trio's friendship play out in Union X, it's still an interesting dynamic between the three of them, especially as Elrena decides to join Lauriam in searching for Strelitzia when he asks her. With Strelitzia appearing in the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, perhaps there is more in store for them.

5 𝓡 Player, Ephemer, Skuld ღ

Daybreak Trio

The player character, Ephemer, and Skuld have one of the strongest friendships in the Kingdom Hearts mobile games. While Ephemer and Skuld are from the same Union, the player character is always from a different Union to the pair, but the three 🍸of them grow close after meeting regardless.

Seeing the friendship blossom between the trio is one of the highlights of Kingdom Hearts X, culminating in a tragic scene at the end of the game. When the player character is severely injured from fighting in the Keyblade War, Ephemer and Skuld come to their side, and the player character holds onto Ephemer's hand for comfort. Even though we now know they meet in the new world afterward, it's a touching scene all the same.

4 🍌 Aꦓqua, Ventus, Terra

Wayfinder Trio

Aqua, Ventus, and Terra have one of the most tumultuous and heartbreaking friendships in the Kingdom Hearts series. When Aqua and Terra take the Mark of Mastery exam, Terra fails because he was unable to control the darkness in his heart, which eventually leads the trio to split up. By the end of Birth by Sleep, Terra is possessed by Xehanort, Ventus is in a comatose state with his heart taking refuge in Sora's, and Aqua is trapped in the Realm of Darkness.

Throughout it all, though, the three always draw on their friendship as a source of strength, connected by the Wayfinder charms that Aqua created for them. When they finally reunite in Kingdom Hearts 3, it's emotional and heartwarming to see them finally together again.

3 ꦡ ﷺ Sora, Riku, Kairi

Destiny Islands Trio

The trio that started it all. Sora, Riku, and Kairi have been close friends since they were little, growing up on Destiny Islands together. Sora and Riku were friends even before this, with Kairi arriving on the night of a meteor shower when the two were young. Sora's journey and motivations almost always revolve around his connections to Riku and Kairi, hoping to rescue or find them again.

In future games, it would be great to see the friendship between Riku and Kairi develop more, as we mostly see Sora and Riku or Sora and Kairi. Still, the friendship between these three is the thread that ties the entire series together, and it really wouldn't be Kingdom Hearts without them.

2 Sora, Donal♋d, Goofy 𝄹

Trinity Trio

Sora, Donald, and Goofy may have had a bit of a rough start in the first Kingdom Hearts game — with Donald and Goofy ﷺliterally abandoning Sora in his🥀 most vulnerable moment — but the trio have since grown closer than ever, and they're always ready to go on an adventure together. Donald and Goofy are now always there to support Sora, and not just because King Mickey told them to.

Donald and Sora aren't afraid to poke fun at each other either, to the point where they even bicker sometimes, but that's what makes their friendship all the more realistic.

Sea Salt Trio

The friendship between Roxas, Xion, and Axel is easily one of the most fleshed-out and tragic dynamics in the entire Kingdom Hearts series. For a long time, it seemed as though their friendship ended in tragedy, but Kingdom Hearts 3 finally allowed the three to reunite and for each of them to become their own person, no longer tied to the villainous Organisation 13.
