"The most merciful tꦦhing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in 🤪the midst of black seas of the infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far." So said H.P. Lovecraft in The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Tales. And this is the central theme of most works that take part in his mythos: the further we reach into the unknown, the harder it pulls us in. The desire for knowledge eventually devours the seeker.
There have been many games, especially in the last decade, that have used Lovecraft’s mythos to craft fresh new horrors. So many games that it has become a searchable genre on Steam (Lovecraftian). Here is a smal🐼l selection from that list, all featuring terrific pixel art and horrendous beasts from the beyoꦑnd.
