8 🅰 E. Honda, Su☂mo Champion

E. Honda, Sumo Champion

E. Honda, Sumo Champion's first ability, assigning combat damage equal to the creature's toughness rather than its power, is something we've seen done before and better on Doran, the Siege Tower. Doran is a lot cheaper, costing just three mana, gives you access to green, black, and white in your deck, and Do🦋ran's ability is always on compared to E. Honda's only working on your turn.

Honda's second ability is slightly more interesting, as having an effect that encourages you to draw lots of cards isn't something we tend to see a lot of in white. Giving up to 100 creatures +0/+X, equal to the number of cards in your hand, could be great in the 99 as a finishing play for go-wide aggro decks. But Honda's mono-white colour identity actively works against needing a large hand, so he li💙kely won't be that great as the Commander.

7 Ke▨n, Burning Brawler

Ken, Burning Brawler

The first of two 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Boros (red/white) Commanders in this set is 🌼Ken Masters, shown here as Ken, Burning Brawler. Costing one generic and two red, he's got Prowess (gets +1/+1 for each noncreature spell you cast this turn), and you can pay a white or a red to give him first strike.

The Shoryuken ability is the interesting bit here: whenever Ken deals combat damage, you can play 𝕴a sorcery with mana value equal or less than the damage dealt from your hand without paying its mana cost. You ignore the timing restrictions normally placed on sorce✃ries, which is cool, but this feels like a very underwhelming ability.

With no way to replenish your hand, yet having Prowess encouraging you to spam out those spells, the chances of you having a worthwhile sorcery in your hand feel slim. While you might be throwing outꩲ an All Is Dust or Austere Command from it once in a while, you're more likely to be playing smaller cards like an un-overloaded Vandalblast.

6 💎 Zangief, the Red Cyclone

Zangief, the Red Cyclone

Excess damage is one of the themes of this Secret Lair drop, and it's perhaps most plainly shown with Zangief, the Red Cyclone. Costing two generic and one of each of the Jund colours (black/red/green), whenever Zangief deals excess damage to a creature, its controller sacrifices a noncreature, nonland permanent. To make matters ☂worse, Zangief has indestructible on your turn and must be blocked if able.

While his low-ish power might make it tricky 𒁏to get excess damage in at first, with a few buffs or other damage-causing spells before combat you'll be raking in those sacrifices. Throw in a Tergrid, God of Fright or an It That Betrays and Zangief can become quite an intimidating Commꦚander.

5 Guile, Sonic Soldier ღ

Guile, Sonic Soldier

Let's get the boring gameplay🦋 bits out of the way first: Guile's a reasonably boring Commander. Dealing four damage to a creature or getting indestructible and lifelink until the end of the turn is respectable but compared to what a lot of the other Commanders in this set are doing, it's bland.

But the design of𝓰 this card is absolutely impeccable. There is so much to love about it from a thematic standpoint. He's a Jeskai (red/white/blue) Human Soldier to represent his American patriotism, and his entire play pattern is built around using 'charge counters'.

For those who've never played Street Fighter, Guile is a charge character that requires you to 𒅌hold the stick in one direction (charge it) and flick it for a lot of his attacks: by using charge counters you build up and then throw at your opponent, it's a perfect call-back to his Street Fighter roots.

It's an underwhelming Magic car🐻d, but an excellent Street Fighter reference that deserves at least a middle spot on this list.

4 Blanka, Ferocious Frien🎉d

Blanka, Ferocious Friend

Aa Gruul (red/green) Commander having a focus on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:combat tricks (instants and so🐻rceries you cast during combat to surprise your opponent) is 🐈an exciting quirk that makes our perfect green boy here a brilliant Commander.

Costing three generic, one red, and one green, Blanka is a 5/5 with Haste. His Rolling Attack ability gives him trample as long as you've cast three or more spells this turn, w📖hile the Electric Thunder attack gives him +2/+2 and deals two damage to each opponent whenever he becomes the target of a spell.

While "spe🍰ll" does include creatures, artifacts, and enchantments in the context of Rolling Attack, the inclusion of Electric Thunder reall🐭y promotes buffing him up with spells like Titan's Strength, Brute Force, Samut's Sprint, and Infuriate to keep the damage going to every character possible.

One drawback with Blanka, Ferocious Friend is 𝕴the lack of recursion you see on other combat trick-centric creatures like Feather, the Redeemed. You'll have to use cards like Volca꧂nic Vision, Revolutionist, and Ardent Elementalist to keep them coming, but that feels like a worthwhile investment to keep Blanka's pound cake coming.

3 🔯 😼Dhalsim, Pliable Pacifist

The famously-stretchy Dhalsim is the first time we've ever seen a reach-matters card be printed, let alone ﷽a Commander for it. Reach is an evergreen keyword that generally just means "can block creatures with flying", but Dhalsim takes it and turns reach into something very different.

For two generic, one green, and one white, Dhalsim has hexproof as long as he's not attacking. On the other hand, if a creature you control with reach is attacking, you untap it, and it can't be blocked by anything with greater power this turn. As an added payoff, you draw a card whenever a creature you control deals co💜mbat damage to a player.

There are lots of great creatures with reach, but you'll want to focus on ones with power smaller than their tou🉐ghness to ensure they can't be killed in combat. Creatures like Arasta of the Endless Web, Ancient Greenwarden, Archon of Valor's Reach, Quasli Slingers, and Silklash Spider all work very well here.

This is one of the most radically new takes on a Selesnya (green/whi♐te) Commander we've had in a long😼 time, and it fits perfectly with Dhalsim's character.

2 ♒ Ryu, W🌃orld Warrior

Ryu, World Warrior

Ryu has one of the biggest thematic wins in the entire set, thanks to the genius inclusion of the untap symbol. Untap is hardly ever used now, with the last time outside of one-off appearances being in Eventide, so why is i♍t here now? Because the untap symbol is also identical to the quarter-circle-forward input for a hadoken in Street Fighter.

Cute callback to the games aside, there are many ways you could make Ryu meaner than he first looks. You can attack with Ryu to tap it, then untap it after you've declared attackers to knock any potential blockers out of the way. Equip it with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:equipment artifacts like Colossus Hammer or a Blackblade Reforged, and you could be dealing severe damage with Ryu. It also cares about excess noncombat damage to draw cards, which makes Toralf, God of F▨ury an excellent card to include to spread the love arꦫound a bit.

Ryu, World Warrior also ♒has training, which is nice to see make a comeback so soon after Innistrad: Crimson Vow. It's not particularly vital, though, with how many other ways red an⛄d white have to make Ryu very big.

1 𒅌 Chun-Li, Countless Kicks ♏

Chun-Li, Countless Kicks

Chun-Li, Countless Kicks seems fairly harmless at first. Costing one generic, one white, and one blue, she's also got a multikickeﷺr of either blue or white in a cute flavour win. For each time you pay that multikicker cost, you exile an instant from your graveyard with a kick counter on it. Then, whenever Chun-Li attacks, you can copy all of those instants and cast as many of them as you like.

"Well you still have to pay the mana cost, and it's instant spells only, how bad can it be?" It means you can draw lots of cards with Brainstorm, blink Chun-Li to get her out of harm's way with an Ephemerate, or make your board untouchable with a Teferi's Protection every turn. If you put a bit of effort in, you could even use a Mystical Tutor to find a Nexus of Fate and get 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:infinite turns.

Best of all, removing Chun-Li doesn't solve the prob♚lem. Once those cards are exiled with the kick counter on them, nothing can interact with them. Recast Chun-Li and the threat is immediately back online. With explosive effects that are difficult to deal with, she's easily the one to watch out for from Secret Lair x Street Fighter.
