Generation I of Pokémon holds a special place in many fans' hearts. The Pokémon Red, Blue, & Yellow games were many people’s first foray into this large and exciting world and ♏the♈ first season of the anime was something young gamers looked forward to each week.

After starting either Pokémon Red or Blue for the first time gamers were presented with probably the toughest choice they faced in childhood -- which of the starter Pokémon should 𒁃they pick? Choosing one meant locking out the others and waiting until another playthrough to explore the growth and evolution of those characters.

That being said picking any of the starters was a good choice as they each had their strengths and iconic designs. Regardless of which was your favorite, it was likely you played through the game at least two more times just to see what it was like with the oওthers.

6 Pikachu
But let’s be honest-- everyone’s favorite starter during Generation I was Pikachu after Yellow came out. Since it first appeared on the anime all those years ago the electrical mouse has become the mascot for the Pokémon franchise and has sold a ton of merchandise.

5 Giovanni
Probably one of the biggest plot twists in the Generation I games was when the player discovers that is, spoiler alert for the dozen or so people on the planet, the eighth gym master. This cunning and resourceful villain had not only held the CEO of a major corporation hostage and 𓂃seized control of an entire townไ, but he was also considered the master of ground type Pokémon.

4 Mew Truck
The Mew Truck was probably the biggest rumor when Pokémon fans were kids during Generation I. Legend had it that a truck could be found next to the dock of the SS Anne, and when pushed aside with a Pokémon who had Strength, a Mew would be undernꦛeath.

3 Legendar♊y Bir✨ds
Finding and capturing the legendary birds was a big deal for many in the Generation I games, these flying powerhouses represented a major boost ꦛto a team’s effectivenesജs. They also represented an interesting challenge as they could only be caught once and if you failed to catch them they were lost forever -- until you save scummed that is.

2 Mewtwo
Let’s be honest, as much as young gamers wanted to catch the legendary birds or knock the truck aside to get the cuddly Mew, what everyone really wanted was the powerful Mewtwo. This Psychic powerhouse was easil⛄y the strongest Pokémon♔ in the game and required players to prove their mastery by defeating the strongest trainers out there before they were even permitted to try capturing him.

1 Dre𓃲am T🍰eam
But perhaps the greatest bit of nostalgia fans have when looking back on Generation I is recalling their first Pokémon dream team. Nothing was better than showing off the scrappy Pokémon they acquired over the different areas, training them up t🥀hrough their evolution trees, and dominating the Elite Four with the strongest Pokemon they could find.
