Pokemon Unite has a lot of great Attackers, but none are as consistently dominant as Pikachu. On one hand, this is unsurprising - Pikachu is one of the most popular Pokemon of all time. Still, the fact it's like Ash's Pikachu in that it doesn't evolve into Raichu makes it a bit odd - you're telling me this tiny electric mouse is packing more of a punch than Venusaur?
Pikachu doesn't have the best endurance, but it's a bona fide glass cannon. Chaining its attacks together and unleashing your Unite move is a sure way to guarantee a team kill, to the point where almost every good Pikachu player racks up the most kills in any game they participate in. Other Attackers worth using include Alolan Ni🀅netales, Venusaur, and Cinderace.
Best Defender In Pokemon Unite: Crustle
Despite coming up against pretty stacked competition in the form of Snorlax and Slowbro, Gen 5's Crustle is not just the best Defender in Pokemon Unite - it's one of the strongest 'mons in the entire game.
This is because Crustle is the only defensive Pokemon with a dynamic set. Snorlax can take a lot of hits and Slowbro is great at stalling enemies until your Attacker arrives, but Crustle's abilities allow it to completely redirect the opposing team. When it comes to actually defending an objective, as opposed to just being tanky, Crustle wins the best Defender title hands down.
The only other Defenders at the time of writing are Slowbro and Snorlax, which are both decent, but not as good as Cr�𝄹�ustle.
Best Support In Pokemon Unite: Eldegoss
Similarly to Defenders, there aren't all that many Support characters in Pokemon Unite. Mr. Mime's Barriers are decent and Wigglytuff is excellent thanks to its ability to put enemies to sleep. Eldegoss, though? Eldegoss is a healer capable of winning entire matches.
While Eldegoss doesn't have the best damage output, it's capable of increasing the damage output of your teammates. Essentially, if you stick with an Attacker or All-Rounder you can continuously top up their HP while they whale on the enemy team. What's more, you can supplement their damage while your healing abilities are on cooldown - it basically turns a 50/50 fight into, like, a 90/10 one.
The other Supports are good, mind - Wigglytuff ♛in particular is great! Eldegoss is the GOAT, though.
Best Speedster In Pokemon Unite: Zeraora
Zeraora is, to put it bluntly, the most broken Pokemon in Pokemon Unite right now. Whether you want to run Spark, Discharge, Unite, or opt for its ultra-mobile Wild Charge build, there's no stopping this electric cat once it gets going.
Zeraora starts each game as itself, meaning it doesn't need to evolve. This makes it extremely powerful in the first five minutes of the game, but the fact its Unite move is so devastating means that it's enormously strong in the late game, too. Absol is good, Talonflame is okay, and Gengar is rubbish unless you're unusually excellent at Jungling. Zeraora, though? Best Speedster in the entire game, hands down.
Best All-Rounder In Pokemon Unite: Lucario
Some people will disagree with my pick here, but I'm an All-Rounder main. This is the only category in the game where all of the Pokemon are genuinely good, but for me, Lucario comes out on top.
Charizard isn't great until you gain access to its Unite move, while Machamp is a pain to level up from Machop. Gabite doesn't evolve into Garchomp until level ten either, meaning you spend around half the game not being as impactful as you should be. Lucario starts the game as itself for some reason, completely bypassing Riolu. It's the only All-Rounder who is majorly strong in the early parts of a game, and it maintains that strength throughout. Double Extremespeed into Bone Rush, into reset double Extremespeed? Call the police, Lucario just killed a man.
