Certain Pokemon have access to moves outside of their normal typing. These moves can be an inherent part of their learnset, or they caဣn only be obtained through special breeding methods. These off-type moves are known as coverage moves in the competitive community.
An example of a coverage move would be the Ground-type Pokemon Dugtrio being able to learn the Ghost-type move Astonish. Many Pokemon can learn moves outside of their typing, but some are more powerful than others, and certain moves are more likely to catch another player off guard. Below we have compiled some of the strongest𓆉 pokemon 🐬with access to coverage moves.
10 Weavile
Weavile is an Ice and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dark-type Pokemon fir♛st introduced in Generation Four. It is known for both its speed and ability to hit very hard with a variety of phys🔯ical attacks.
What it is coveted for in competitive formats, is its access to a number of powerful Fighting-type moves. It can learn moves like Low Sweep, Focus Punch, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:and Rock Smash. Additionally, it can learn the Fire🐽-type move Sunny Day, and the Bug-type move X-Scissor. These are moves yo𝓰u usually will not see on a Weavile in a competitive setting, but that just means that no one will see them coming.
9 Cloyster
Cloyster has been a favorite among battlers since Generation One. Its powerful Ice-typing, its access to the move Shell Smash, and the ability Skill Link make it a n𝓀early unstoppable th🐷reat in battle.
To make it even more threatening, Cloyster h𝓰as access to not only the Ice-type move Icicle Spear, but also to Rock Blast. Both of these moves are guaranteed to hit five times so long as Cloyster has the Skill Link ability. This on ♏top of the fact that Cloyster has access to many powerful Water-type moves and Explosion means that it can take out nearly any Pokemon that tries to stand in its way.
8 Comfey
Comfey is a cute little flower bouque🌺t Pokemon whose specialty is draining and replenishing health. This Fairy-type Pokemon is already pow꧒erful due to its typing, but it can grow stronger each turn with the Psychic-type move Calm Mind.
Once Comfey has set up enough Calm Minds it has a number of options on how to deal 📖with opponents. It can use another Psychic move, Stored Power, to absolutely decimate foes. If Comfey has taken damage, however, it can recover by using the Grass-type move Giga Drain.
7 Pheromosa
All Ultra Beasts are powerful: They were designed to be that way after all. Thatꦛ said, Phreromosa stands out in this crowd as having ac💜cess to some oddly typed moves.
Pheromosa is a Bug and Fighting-type Pokemon. Even so, it has access to the Ice-type move Ice Beam, Bounce a Flying-type move, Electro Web an Electric-type move, and even the Dragon-type move Outrage. Most of the time in a competitive format you will only see it running Ice Beam and a very occasional Bounce. Beware, though, f🔥or💜 this is not a beast to be trifled with.
6 Pikachu
Pikachu not only h🌄as access to coverage moves, but it has an 🐻interesting story as to how one of them got there. The first is fairly normal. It has access to Iron tail to deal with Rock-types and put a bit of pressure on other Electric-types.
The other move it has access to, Surf, Is quite another thing. At first, this move could only be placed on Pikachu by hacking the game or performing🦩 certain glitches. However, it was later released by Game Freak in Pokemon Yellow as an Event Pokemon. It has remained that way sincℱe, and Pikachus with access to Surf still dominate the VGC to this day.
5 Togekiss
If you have anything to do with competitive Pokemon play, you know Togekiss to be an annoyance. It specializes in in🧜flicting status effects like Paralysis onto foes and then stun locking them into oblivion with the Serene Grace Ability.
Though it is mostly used for stun locking and Roosting, it also has access to the Rock-type move, Ancient Power. Not only is the Rock-typing contrary to Togekiss's Flying-typing, but Ancient Power is also typically only reserved for Fossil Pokemon. Ancient Power can raise all of the user's stats at once, and there is a higher chance of this happening with Serene Grace, which means that this Pokemon can snowball in power very quickly.
4 Porygon-Z
Porygon-Z's access to so many different typed moves makes some sense based on its backstory. After all, if you manufactured a Pokemon digitally, wouldn't you give it access to every move?
That's a bit of an overdramatization when it comes to this Pokemon, but only slightly. This Normal-type Pokemon has access to moves all across the type spectrum. From Thunderbolt, to Ice Beam, to Solar Beam, even to Shadow Ball, there are very few types this Pokemon is incapable of firing off. The greatest thing about sending a Porygon onto the field is that the opponent literally never knows what to expect next.
3 🅰 G🌼alarian Darmanitan
The introduction of regional variants really shook up the Pokemon community as a whole. Some were excited to see their favorite Pokemon b๊e reworked and reintroduced as bigger and better threats. Others feared the implications this would have on the battle scene.
As if giving these fears form, Galarian Darmanitan slunk from the shadows. This Ice-type Pokemon has access to a number of Fighting-type moves, such as Hammer Arm, which already gives it decent utility. It also carries with it Flare Blitz as a nod to its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:previous Fire-typing. This Po♚🅠kemon is a beast and you would do well to add one to your team.
2 Swoobat
Swoobat strikes many players as unexceptional, and this is what loses many players a battlไe. Though small, this is one of the fastest Pokemon in the games, and it has access to Simple, perhaps the strongest a꧒bility in the Pokemon competitive universe. It can stack Calm Minds twice as fast, and still has access to Stored Power.
If a Dark-type comes in to try and delay the inevit♋able, Swoobat can simply let off a Heat Wave and end the battle. Swoobat has access to Flying, Psychic, and Fire-type offensive moves, making it nearly impossible to deal with.
1 Mew
To keep your🥃 opponent always guessing, Mew is the Pokemon for you. Mew is the father of all Pokemon, and therefore has the genetic code of all existing Pokemon in its DNA. From a lore aspect, this gives us a fun explanation for the existence of Mewtwo and Ditto. Fr💙om a battle perspective, this means that Mew has access to moves from every type in the game.
Physical moves 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:like Dragon Claw, Focus Punch, and Earthquake. Status moves like Toxic, Thunderwave, and Will-O-Wisp. Special Moves like Solar Beam, Hyper Beam, and Bug Buzz. Anything you need, Mew for it has ꦕfor you. The hardest part is choosing only four.
