The PS2 released nearly two decades ago and by golly did it change gaming forever. For starters, it was a clear step above the power and the choppy polygonal graphics of the N64 and PS1 era. And up until the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch it may have had the greatest lineup of games ever produced on a console -- sorry 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox fans, but Halo and Gears can't cut it alone.

Three  games, two Metal Gears and the birth of the God of War, Ratchet and Clank and Silent Hill franchise🎀s -- to name a few. We're going to limit it to one title per franchise and sorry in advance to the games that get snubbed, weꦇ only have 10 entries to work with!

10 Burnout 3: Tak♕edown

burnout_3_takedown

Burnout 3 might not be how most would start a list of what is essentially the 10 of the best games ever created. But boy is this game criminally 🐈underrated and is truly one of the best racing games of all time.

There's just no other racing game where you feel this fast -- it's almost like you're ൲going to get an anxiety attack at home and bailout of your chair before you hit the next car. It's an exhilarating experience even on the main menu when you're hit with a collection of melodic🐷 thrash punk that continues into races. And you bet it still holds up today.

9 Ico

ico_ps2_game

Sure you know Shadow of Colossus, but what'chu know about Ico? Before Shadow of Colossus would take the world by storm or the endless hype that would be The Last Guardian, mastermind Fumito Ueda created Ico. Arguably his greatest game, Ico has you follow a distraught and lonely child who was cast out from his vi🎀llage for the horns he has on his head, which he was born with.

In typical Ueda fashion it's rich with atmosphere and presents some smartly craftಞed puzzles along the way. Plus it has an ending that pays off in ways you can't even imagine.

8 Katamari: Damacy 🧸 ꩵ

katamari_damacy_ps2

Sure there are other games on the PS2 that are technically better than Katamari Damacy. It wasn't the most stunning graphically and was one of those games that most of your friends would call you a weeb for playing. Alಌl that said, this game is perfect and unlike many games from this era, continues to age like fine wine.

In the same way that 2D sprite graphics seemed to be ahead of their time predating the recent indie revolution in gaming. Katamari Damacy has a s﷽tyle that will be timeless -- and good god is that soundtrack straight flames.

7 Okami

okami_ps2_game

It's nice to see that Okami is finally getting the respect (and the cash) it deserves with the recent HD remake because boy did this one flop. Sure calling it "A stunningly gorgeous and unique masterpiece that effortlessly blends art and storytelling with pu🀅zzles and amusement."

Clover Studios the developers behind Okami screwed the pooch🦂 releasing this modern masterpiece at the end of the PS2's life-cycle.  You play as Amaterasu, a wolf god who has come to Earth to save it from malicious ancient gods. Its cel-shaded graphics were stunning at the time and still hold up today, bꦍut do yourself a favor and pick up the remaster to get the best experience.

6 God O𒊎f War 2

god_war_2_ps2

God of War is one of the few franchises in gaming that can continually smack you in the mouth. The first game comes out in 2005 and takes everyone by surprise with a full-th♒rottle game where you play as one very angry man on a quest for revenge.

Then everyone is patiently waiting for the second game to come out on PS3 and boom! God of War 2 came out in 2007 and was bigger, badder, and gorier than ev🐽er. It trumped the previous game in every way possible and is still regarded by many to be one of the best in the series.

5 🐼 ♕Shadow Of Colossus

shadow_colossus_ps2

Shadow Of Colossus is one of those games that was so ahead of it's time that w𒀰e're not even sure if we've made it there in present-day gaming. The ideas here were so foreign, so strikingly unique -- it was one of the first times that a game felt comparable to a movie.

You're placed in this vast, barren world where your only task is tꦯo take down 16 titans, each more difficult than the last. It's strange how the game feels like a void that has sucked the life out of everything around it and to top it off has very little dialogue. But some𒅌how it feels so rich and incredibly rewarding, especially with it's ending which will leave you dumbfounded.

4 ♌ Resident Evil 4

resident_evil4_ps2

Sure Resident Evil 4 has become aꦗ dead horse that is beaten further to death whenever anyone discusses influential horror games or it's revolutionary over the shoulder third-person combat system. All that and more can be said about this horror game classic, but what needs to be overstated is how addicting of a game it was.

You played as Leon and were tasked with rescuing the President's daughter from a freakish cult. Along the way, you took on chainsaw-wielding maniacs, hordes of pissed off farmer🌜s and learned the important lesson of treating every bullet like it was 𓃲the last.

3 Grand Theft A🉐uto: San Andreas

grand_theft_auto_sanandreas

As much as we'd love to have placed Vice City on this list because of "I Rannnn, I Rannn so Far Away!" or "Act Like You Know!!" and everything else that made that game special (it was the soundtrack), Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas improved everything about the GTA formula and forever soಌlidified th🌺e series as a force in the gaming world.

The world has been widened to the scope of an entire state and unlike Vice City, felt full of life at every corner. Plus it introduced us to some of the greatest missions and characters ever in a GTA game, like Big Smoke or the protagoꦕnist Carl "CJ" Johnson.

2 Silent Hill 2 ꦚ

silent_hill_mary

Resident Evil 4 may have been the best action-horror game on the PS2, but when it came to pure concentrated terror there's no competing with Silent Hill 2. In terms of psychological horror, there are few in the genre that are better and there certainly aren't any in the Silent Hill series that have trumped the game since.

You play as James Sunderland, a man who is trapped in the hellscape of a town and must confront his inner demons to escape. The game💝 doesn't hit you over the head with anything and proves to be an intelligent and mysterious experience that fans are still trying to decipher.

1 😼 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

metal_gear3_ps2

"Masterpiece" seems like the apex point for most games and for many, it is. But there's that one tier above for all The Witcher 3's and Breath of The Wilds of the world, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater has been sitting there since 2004.

From a gameplay standpoint, it was the best the series has ever been, delivering survival stealth-based combat in the jungles of the Soviet Union during the break-out of the Cold War. Sure, it was fun playing as Solid Snake's father Big Boss, but where MGS 3 really shines is through its narrative. Your heart will feel abused by the end -- it's something all gamers need to experience aꦕt least once.
