There is even supposedly a trick to skip cutscenes by opening the PlayStation console when a cutscene starts.
This sidequest is much more doable in the remasters, where there are X4 fast-forward options. The modern ports of FF9 include a fast-forward feature, which basically breaks Chocobo Hot & Cold. There is a one-minute time limit, but the X4 speed means it is almost guaranteed the player will find enough treasure for Moogle to intervene and end the minigame. It's still immensely satisfying to hear that "KWEEH!" and know Chocobo found something.
