are nothing new. Even The Sims is loosely based on a PC game released by Activision in 1987 called Little Computer People. As the name suggestions, “sim” games create a simulated reality in which the player has some control to change 𒆙the environment.

In some cases this is done directly by the player, like in the classic PC game from Bullfrog called Populous. Sometimes the changes are performed via machinations or workers that the playe🐼r directs. The word “Sim” does not need to be in a game’s name – it just needs to be in the 💜sim genre of games.

10 Tropico 6

Tropico is a long-standing franchise where the player takes on the role of dictator of an island nation. As the dictator it is up to the player to direct every aspect of society. In addition to maintaining the empire, players must also guard their power base from internal threats - lest they lose it (and the game). As one would suspect, politics, espionage, and intrigue play a large role in the Tropico series. The first Tropico debuted in 2001, and the sixth in the series (Tropico 6) was released in 2019.

9 Totally Accurate Bat🌌tle Simulator

This list wouldn’t be complete without at least one battle simulator, and in the realm of battle simulators Totally Accurate Battle Simulator reigns supreme. The player is free to pick the battlefield, the number of troops, and what type of troops will be fighting. There are the usual tr♌oops like medieval archers and Viking warriors, but ജthere are also more mythical creatures like minotaurs and wizards. The camera view can also be changed on the fly. Setting up battles between the various troops is easy, and watching them battle to the death is a lot more fun than it has any right to be.

8 SimEarth

Before making The Sims, Will Wright’s company Maxis produced a lot of “Sim” games – SimCity probably being the most famous. One of the more entertaining and complex of these games was Sim Earth. This game was an earth simulation where the player had control over almost every aspect of the planet. The player could control (among many other things) the constituent✃ gasses in the air, how fast the continents “drifted,” and even the rotation rate of the planet. Over time life will appear and evolve if the conditions are right; life which the player can grant sentience to by placing a monolith in their presence.

7 Spore

Spore is similar to SimEarth, except instead of controlling the env♈ironment to nudge evolution along, players directly altered their species. The player could choose between carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore during the microscopic stage.

As the game progresses, the player's species moves through the animal stage, tribal stage, industrial stage, and space stage. The game bogs down a little upon entering the space stage because of the vastness of the galaxy, but this doesn't make Spore an unenjoyable experience by any means. This game receivꦇed a lot of cri𝓀ticism when it was released due to it not living up to the hype – and the restrictive DRM.

6 ܫ Stardew Valley ♍

Stardew Valley is a charming and popular farm simulator with a 16-bit look to its graphics. The story is the player just inherited their grandfather’s farm; which is a bit of a fixer-upper. The game itself is a sandbox life simulator like The Sims. The player can choose what to grow/raise on their farm, choose to extract resources from the ground, and be an active member of the game’s virtual community. Stardew Valley also has some battle sequences from time to time that help break up the monot⛦ony of running a farm. This game was released in 2016 by ConcernedApe for nearly every platform.

5 ♍ Dungeon Keeper 2 ꦚ

Dungeon Keeper is an evil simulator - for lac🥂k of a better description. In this🎃 game, the player assumes the role of the master of the dungeon. As the master, the player must direct their imps to tunnel out the surrounding rock to create rooms.

Over time, the player’s dungeon attracts monstrous creatures that are used to defend it against those pesky heroes that occasionally invade. The player can also interact with their dungeon by casting spells, dropping c🔯reatures where they’re needed, and slapping the imps so they’ll work faster.  There are two games in the series, both of which can be played via Origin.com.

4 𒁏 Cities: Skylines

Before Cities: Skylines there was SimCity, and it was the premier 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:city building simulator. Sim City 3 Unlimited is probably the best in terms of ease of use, graphics, music, and level of detail. Cities: Skylines continues where the SimCity franchise left off, and is arguably the best city simulator currently available. In fact Cities: Skylines was green-lit after the poor reception SimCity (2014) received from players and critics. The player controls their city’s layout, zoning, services, and taxes. The game’s ability to 🐓simulate road traffic is extremely realistic, and rewards players that design efficient networks of roads.

3 SimTower

Shortly after Maxis released the SimCity 2000 they released an odd game titled SimTower. This now classic game puts the player in control of a building. The player can expand the building by adding floors (to a max of 100), but this causes the need for an efficient system of elevators and stairs to be built. The player also has the power to designate rooms as residences, commercial areas, hotel areas, and restaurants – among others. As the player earns more stars more room types become available. There was a spiritual successor to SimTower named Yoot Tower, and a more modern offering named Project Highrise.

2 ꧒ ꦺ The Sims 4

A lot of people didn’t “get” The Sims when it first debuted. The goal was simply to make your sim live their life to its fullest. Players were free to choose their sim’s profession, friends, and hobbies/skills. One of the coolest parts of The Sims series is the ability for players to build their own house, and furnish/decorate it however they want. The series is currently on The Sims 4, but the fifth title will likely be released at some point in 2020. Along with each entry♋ in the seri♉es comes a mountain of add-ons that increase the player’s in-game options.

1 ꦆ Civilization VI

The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sid Meier’s Civilization series might go down in history as the best video game franchise of all time. It allows the player to pick a civilization, its immortal leader (chosen from real world historic leaders), and then shape their civilization as they wish. Players must balance civic needs with military needs, all while making sure their civilization has enough food and resources to continue into the future. Additionally, the Civilization series is known for its robust espionage and diplomatic options. The series is currently on Civilization VI (the𒀰 best of the series), and will probably continue to be an active game franchise well into the future.
