One gaming genre that's largely absent these days is stealth. While it's rare to see new ones coming out, they were huge in the late 90s and 2000s. The biggest stealth series arose from that time, including Hitman, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Splinter Cell, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid.

The Xbox Live Arcade era was truly something else. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Banger after banger was launched at a steady rate, and in 2012 came Mark of the Ninja. Originally an Xbo🍸x 360 exclusive, Mark of the Ninja is a side-scrolling stealth game akin to Ninja Five-O or the GBA Splinter Cell titles. However, the jump from those GBA games to this one is staggering.

Using the tried and true stealth system of staying in the dark to get by works amazing for a side-scroller. The level design is top-notch, and the platforming's good, too, and mixes up the gameplay. Nowadays, the title is available on all platforms so there's no excuse not to check out this stealth masterpiece.

Out of the whole 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Assassin's Creed series, the original remains the best in terms of a raw stealth title. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, on the other hand, delivers a wholly unique stealth experience with its multiplayer. With a maximum of six people, you must assassinate a certain player while protecting yourself against others who have you as their target.

You must scope out the area because the targets will always look like NPCs. If you're in the lead on points, you'll have more pursuers to compensate, heightening the stakes. This formula created pure magic, and it was so fun to play again and again. While not objectively the best stealth multiplayer, it is the most fun. Unfortunately, the servers are shut down, so this magical multiplayer is gone for good.

Horror games have always used stealth in one way or another throughout their history, but it really picked in usage after 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Amnesia: The Dark Descent. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Alien: Isolation is the most pure stealth game of them all because if you're seen by the Alien, you're screwed. In something like Outlast, you can run away once you're spotted and find success. Not here.

The Alien will 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:always instinct kill you with its gꦏrab, and there's no get-out-of-jail-free cards like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil with its knives. There's a few tools, but they're so limited. It truly makes you feel powerless against this monster in a way few games do. Alien: Isolation is a hardcore stealth horror game, and there's even a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Batman: Arkham-style challenge mode ไto test your stea🌠lth skills further.

One of the top stealth games of the 2000s had to be Hitman: Blood Money. The opera house, the Heaven and Hell club, the neighborhood, and the Playboy Mansion level are all great and some of the series best.

A phenomenal modern stealth title and one of the most content-rich is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Hitman World of Assassination. Originally three separate games, but now combined into one, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:you get 22 total maps, including th꧑e prologue area and the Ambrose Island add-on.

There's so much to do here, considering each map can be played dozens of times, along with extra modes, like Sniper Assassin. The gameplay's great, too, but this title isn't the definitive Hitman game. The essentially always online requirement is a hassle, and the ways to take out your target do get kind of samey, with impersonating another figure. It's amazing, regardless, but the classic titles are still worth a play.

Up atop the Mount Rushmore of stealth games, no matter what person you talk to, will be Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and for good reason. The stealth gameplay is perfected for the generation, and 🧜you have stellar levels to go with it. Probably the most notable has to be the Bank one.

The graphics are also killer for the original Xbox, and in particular, its lighting still held up long after launch. The Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer is the giant cherry on top, rounding out the whole package. Out of all the original Xbox games backward compatible on Series X|S, Chaos Theory is in the top two, with only 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ninja Gaiden Black in competition.

Blacklist does not get the credit it deserves for being one of the best stealth games in recent times. What Ubisoft Toronto managed to deliver here is truly remarkable. First, Blacklist uses a checkpoint system instead of the more preferred save anywhere feature of most stealth titles. Unlike the first two games, this isn't frustrating here, as each stealth section will have a checkpoint.

Then you have three different playstyles that all work well, which is very difficult to pull off in a stealth game. The multiplayer's great, too, and the graphics are excellent for a 360 and PS3 era title. The game's so good that it's rather frustrating this ended up being the final main entry in the series, as a sequel could crank the formula here to 11.

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid 5 isn't the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:best game in the series. Its story has many problems, but MGS5 outdoes the rest of the franchise in terms of quality stealth. There's so many options here, even more so than 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Snake Eater. Not only do you have those options, but they're so fun to play around with.

Like MGS5, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Deus Ex: Mankind Divided isn't the best game in the series and arguably doesn't even surpass its predecessor. However, its stealth gameplay is the most rich in quality. One of the main criticisms of Human Revolution was the boss fights that had to be killed, even in a title that rewarded a non-lethal approach.

Mankind Divided fixed that, and you can go through the whole game non-lethally. More options were given to both the stealth approach and the action one, making the two playstyles more fun to experiment with. Playing stealthily through the whole game is highly enjoyable, even in the DLC content. Mankind Divided is a bit of a forgotten gem that not many played at release, and if you haven't checked it out yet, you definitely should.

When discussing the greatest stealth games, the correct answer for the absolute GOAT is Thief. Like the flow of old-school 80s rappers, Thief plays and feels just as fresh today as it was back then. This is because in order to detect enemies away from your immediate view, you don't use any visual tool like most other titles.

You simply use your ear and listen to the incredible sound design to learn the locations of enemies. Thief remains the only stealth series to primarily use audio for this gameplay purpose. The whole trilogy is amazing, but Thief 2 just takes the edge in terms of its quality-level design. Exploration's just on a whole other level here in a way few games today can replicate.
