Capcom's 1989 Sweet Home is based on the Japanese horror film of the same name. The film remains niche even for Japanese horror, but this is one of the rare instances the game's actually better.
Sweet Home is an RPG and survival horror hybrid that excels in both areas. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil co-creator Tokuro Fujiwara directed this game, and you can see so many elements from that series right here. The story is also pretty wild and best experienced with no knowledge beforehand. This game should be commercially available today due to its importance, but licensing can be a pain, and that's likely why it's stuck to the NES.

One of the only downsides is that the game doesn't have much to do with the overall Blair Witch story, but it's still a solid horror game.

When it comes to gaming, the Elvira brand can seemingly do no wrong. She has an amazing trilogy of Pinball෴ machines, and her two PC games are also excellent. In particular, Elvira 2: The Jaws of Cerberus is a classic PC horror title underappreciated🏅 today.
It actually has a lot of scary moments, and the insect area might be the scariest location in a 90s horror game. What's also cool is that damage is limb based. If one of your arms or legs gets destroyed, you can still continue on. It's just a flesh wound. The first two Elvira games are available on GOG and are must-play retro horror titles.
5 ♏ Saw (2009) ♏
With new movies being released every October at the time, it was inevitable the Saw franchise would spawn a 𒀰game. Much to the shock of many, it became an underrated gem for the Xbox 3🧸60 and PS3.
It's not perfect by any means, but Saw took the concept of a gauntlet of traps and converted it into a fun action/puzzle game. With plenty of gore, challenging puzzles, and the infamous Saw style, it is worth checking out. Tobin Bell even returns to voice Jigsaw, and he's consistently the best part of any Saw-related thing.
4 🦹 Ju-On: The Grudge (2009) 𝔍
When the Nintendo Wii is brought up, horror titles are not usually the first games that come to mind. However, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Wii did have a few surprise gems, including Ju-On: The Grudge.
Ju-On: The Grudge is split up into multiple chapters, with each one playing more like a haunted house ride. This is not a bad thing, as Ju-On: The Grudge does a brilliant job of building suspense and keeping the player on their toes, waiting for any scary ghost to appear. It does have multiplayer, but stick to the campaign because that mode can be quite irrit꧑ating.

Friday the 13th: The Game boasts ugly graphics, a plethora of glitches, and very little customization. Instead, it makes up for everything by having genuinely fun multiplayer gameplay, atmosphere, and clear love for the movies. Any fan of the franchise will get a kick out of the many locations, easter eggs, and the many Jason Voorhees classes. 2 The Thing (2002) 💛 ⛦
A game based on John Carpenter's horror classic had every reason to be LJN levels of bad. However, the game was shockingly great. The Thing keeps the dark and claustrophobic atmosphere of the movie while creating a sequel to the original film.
The Thing also uses a unique trust system. This forces the player to keep the paranoia levels low and bonds with the team up high, or they could rebel. Combined with impressive creature design and gameplay, The Thing is a forgotten horror game that deserves more recognition. Definitely better than The Thing prequel, that's for sure.

The best game based on a horror movie is still 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Alien: Isolation. Much like The Thing, Isolation acts as a sequel to the original movie, and it's arguably the best sequel. The visuals match the original Ridley Scott movie perfectly, and the story of Amanda Ripley is engaging.
The Xenomorph is still one of the most terrifying threats in video game history. The AI adapts to the player's moves, so don't get comfortable using the same tactics. Add creepy android enemies and puzzles to bake a beautiful cake that fans are still waiting for a sequel to.
