The big new gimmick in Pokémon X and Y was, well amongst converting the entire game into 3D and whatnot, Mega Evolution. This aspect of the game saw both old and new Pokémon getting a brand new evolution, one that was temporary, as they reverted back to their🌞 original form after battles ended.

Many designs for these Megas were wild, their goal was to be as over the top as possible. However, some designs 🌠just went a bit far. Today, we'll be looking at ten of the worst Mega Evolution designs, in no particular order. Let's get into it.

10 Mega Heracross 𒀰

Make it bug, but intensiꦕfy! That was the entire concept behind Heracross's Mega design... and why? It doesn't do anything to make Heracross look fun or new, just... big boi time. That's fine, but it just isn't nearly as inspired of a design as some of the other Mega forms that we've been intr𒐪oduced to in the past few years.

9 Mega Gyarados ꦉ

Why, why you gotta do our boy Gyarados like that? You take an incredibly powerful Pokémon with an awesome design and you tu♌rn him into a shrimp. Was that really necessary, Game Freak? The only way that this is acceptable is if little fan theory is true.

Years ago, thꦯere was an anime sequence that saw Misty running after a legendary water Pokémon in a dream. It looks quite a bit similar to a Pokémon that we already know, wouldn't you say? It's cause for t🐭hought at the very least. Either way, Mega Gyarados is still pretty ugly.

8 𝐆 Mega Slowbro ღ

mega slowbro

SWALLOW. At least, that's what Shellder said. In when Slowbro Mega Evolves, the actual Pokémon barely changes at all. It's only the Shellder (that still definitely isn't a Shellder after all these years) that actually changes, and it ⛎grows into a huge shell of armor for Slowbrow. Armor with teeth that could close at any minute. The bes🌊t kind of armor.

While this design is a pretty funny one, you 🉐kind of have to put it on a worst list. Come on, just look at it.

7 🌺 Mega Latios And Latias

mega latios flying through the sky in the anime

The actual design for Mega Latios and Mega Latios isn't bad per say, it's the fact that they literally have the exact same design (save for slightly different eye colors) that they end up 🦋on this list. Look, the reasoning makes sense, they're incredibly similar Pokémon and their Mega color is blue and red combined but like, you could've at least given them some different features. Overall, these two share a disappointing Mega Evolution due to the simple fact that they share it.

6 Mega Glalie ꦛ

Mega Glalie's jaw said U N H I N G E. Good for him. In case you were wondering though, yeah that's pretty much it. Mega Glalie has basically no other changes exc💯ept for a growth in the mouth. He also gets angrier and unicornier. Honestly, can you really blame them? What else can they do to enhance the design of a floating head? Then again, you can blame them because why did they choose to give a Mega Evolution to a Pokémon that is literally just a floating head? They should've attached a body to him. Now THAT'S a Mega Evolution.

5 Meg෴a Sharpedo ♌

Mega Sharpedo isn't really offensive by any means, it just isn't good. Sharpedo gains almost nothing when it Mega Evolves except some gold-yellow stripes everywhere, and a few sma🎐ller changes here and there.

Sharpedo is basically just a shark, so they really could have done some cool things with its design. Maybe make it a hammerhead or something? Whatever they would choose to do insteaꦡd of yellow stripes, it probably would have been a bett𒊎er idea. What a shame.

4 𓆏 Mega Scizor 🎐

Mega Scizor can literally be found in any Staples store and that is a shame. Literally what did they do to this man? They really went full in on the name, and made him a pair of scissors. Like, sure, he's great for any Johto resident who's super into crafts but liﷺke, he's ugly now. Mega Evolving should not make you become ugly. Let's see if the next entry on the list is just as ugly as Scizor, shall we?

3 💙 🎉 Mega Swampert

D- do you call this ugly? Is it ugly? Will Mega Swampert punch you out if you call it ugly? Why is he so large and stronk? Why was this the natural course of evolution that Swampert needed to take? Sceptile and Blazikin at least make sense in their Mega Forms. Theirs are even enjoyable to look at. Swampert just became a very large and angry man that also shoots water out of its mouth. This one... is it ugly? Sort of. Is it strange? For sure🍃. Is it offputting? Oh, absolut🦩ely yes it is 100% the most offputting.

2 🐼 𒅌 Mega Camerupt

Look, we can all see wha🍬t they were going for with the design of Mega Camerupt,൲ but, it maybe could have just been a bit more elegantly. Like, the bottom of its body looks like a shag rug that it's just dragging around with it everywhere it goes. Also apparently we just put an M on our foreheads now to indicate that we are, in fact, Mega Evolutions? What an odd choice to add-in. Mega Camerupt certainly isn't the worst designed Pokémon on this list, but it still isn't good.

1 ♚ Mega Manectric ဣ

Could Mega Manectric's design have b🔯een any more on the nose? It's basically a punch in the nose. Who decided that they were just going to weigh Mega down with a GIGANTIC thunderbolt on its back? Who? This man did not deserve to be pꦕunished in this way. Set him free. Un-Mega the man this instant. You cannot make a joke out of a Pokémon like this. Well... Mega Evolutions have already been ripped away from us at this point, so technically Manectric doesn't have to worry about Mega Evolving anymore.
