This may sound like pandering but fans are the best. They really are. Yes, there are a few bad apples in every fandom but that’s just life. What makes Pokémon fans great is their want for discovery. Within the past decade so much has been uncovered about Pokémon Blue/Red and their sequels, Pokémon Gold/Silver as just two examples.
There is cut content out there from trainers to locations, but the best discoveries concern Pokémon that never saw the light of day. This article will explore ten of the saddest cuts from Pokémon histꦉory. Why these were never made into actual creatures decades later is a real mystery for the ag⛎es.
10 Bomushika
Bomushika was going to be a water and fire Pokémon, which was an unheard of combination at the time. It was going to be in Pokémon Gold/Silver, which would have been a nice compliment to Seel from the ꦡfirst iteration of games. That ball of molten lava was a nice touch. The artwork was drawn by R🌊achel Briggꦏs, or @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the original sprite for Bomushika.
9 🐼 En, Rai, And Sui Betas ꧅
These are the prototype designs for Entei, Raikou, Suicune. The biggest difference between the three Pokémon seems to be modeling them after dogs instead of mythical giant cat beasts. Also, Rai and Sui have some pretty luxurious hair for Pokémon. Rai looks like Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. The artwork was drawn by Rachel Briggs, or @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the original sprites for En, Rai, an💟d Sui.
8 Godzillante And Gorillaimo ༒
If the names and designs weren’t dead giveaways, Godzillante paid homage to Godzilla while Gorillaimo was a reference to King Kong. Its hat was also a reference to Nes from EarthBound. They were going to be in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Blue/Red, which makes one wonder if Mankey was Gorillaimo’s replacement and if Dragonite was the substitute for God🃏zillante. The artwork was drawn by Rachel Briggs, or @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the orig🌃inal drawings🐽 for Godzillante And Gorillaimo.
7 Hono𝕴guma, Volbear, And Dynabear
Honoguma’s line would have been the Fire starters in Pokémon Gold/Silver. Cyndaquil is a very cute Pokémon and no one would dream to ever get rid of it. Why it replaced these Pokémon is mꦛysterious though since they were all s𓆉eemingly done.
The only critique one may give these Pokémon is that the final evolution, Dynabear, looks a lot like𓃲 Growlithe. The artwork was drawn by Rachel B♛riggs, or @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the origꦇinal sprites for Honoguma, Volbear, and Dynabear.
6 Jaggu
Jaggu looks like a shark combined with a swordfish and would have been in Pokémon Blue/Red. As far as shark Pokémon go, it looks better than Sharpedo, which wouldn’t be introduced until Generation III aka Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire. It wo𝐆uld have also given the game’s Water Pokémon cast more diversity. The artwork was drawn by R𝐆achel Briggs, or @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the original drawing for Jaggu.
5 🌟 Kotora, Raitora, And ???
These electric tigers would have been introduced in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Gold/Silver, as discovered by their sprites in the Space World 1997 demo. Howeve🅠r, rumors have it that they might have been introduced in the original games. It could then be theorized that El🔴ectabuzz replaced them. Speculation aside, the final evolution’s sprite has no name and only its back was shown in the demo. So, when Rachel Briggs drew it based off of the sprites, she had to do some guesswork too.
4 ✅ Kurusu, Aqua, And Aqu꧅aria
Honoguma was not the only starting Pokémon in Pokémon Gold/Silver that was replaced. Kurusu’s line was there before Totodile’s༒ as the Water types. The only one that wasn’t replaced was Chikorita although its second evolution did change drastically. Anyway, these Pokémon look like missing cousins to Lapras. The artwork was drawn by Rachel Briggs, or @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the origina𝐆l sprites for Kurusu, Aqua, and Aquaria.
3 Nღorowara And Kyonpan
It might be 🥀obvious based on the designs, but Norowara and Kyonpan were pure Ghost type Pokémon. Norowara is based on a typical Chinese straw doll while Jiangshi is the literal name for the legendary Chi🙈nese hopping vampires.
Apparently Norowara could evolve into Kyonpan as soon as it leveled up, 🦩but in order to get the best move it would have to wait until level 99. The artwork was drawn by R🅺achel Briggs, or @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the original sprites for Norowara and Kyonpan.
2 Poliwrath Beta🅰 🦩
This isn’t a missed Pokémon so much as it is a replaced design. This is what Poliwrath would have looked like which had a similar big jolly vibe to Snorlax. The crown on its head would give Game Freak the idea for the King’s Rock item in Pokémon Gold/Silver. Th🍷is would make Poliwhirl evolve into Politoed as an alte♚rnate evolution. The artwork was drawn by Rachel Briggs, oꦛr @RacieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the original drawing for Poli🦩wrath.
1 🦹 Wolfman And Warwolf
These two Pokémon were Ice based and would have been in Pokémon Gold/Silver. From the sprites,𓆏 it appears as though their true appearance was hidden as if they were merely wearing the hides of wolves. That’s just a guess, but it makes them more mysterious this way. The artwork was drawn by Rac🅷hel Briggs, or @RacไieBeep on Twitter, as a recreation of the original sprites for Wolfman and Warwolf.
