When it comes to the BioShock trilogy, the third title is clearly the odd one out. After all, it is very different from t🌸he two that came before. Yet, Infinite had to be the more dissimilar one as the first two are extremely similar.

They share the same tone, presentation, and setting. Even the gameplay in the two titles is very alike. So much so that it can be hard to differentiate the games from screenshots. That being said, the first two BioShocks aren't completely identical. There are some differences between the two titles, and these are the most significant ones.

7 🥀 Hacking Mini-Game

BioShock 1 and BioShock 2 Hacking Mini-Games Split Image

There are plenty of things to hack in Rapture, from security bots to vending machines. So, it's an important feature in both games. Yet, each title has its own hacking mini-game. In the original, you have to rearrange a set of pipes to allow the liquid to flow through. Your aim is to make it reach the indicated spot on the other side of the grid.

The developers changed this system significantly for the sequel. The mini-game in BioShock 2 is a horizontal bar with a needle that's perpetually moving from side to side. To successfully hack something, you must stop the needle when it's in the green or blue areas - with the blue area offering bonus rewards. Which system is better depends on your personal preference as there isn't a clear superior one.

6 ༺ Dual-Wield In BioShock 2

A screenshot showing a fight with a Splicer in Bioshock 2

One of the best changes BioShock 2 makes to the original's combat is the addition of dual-wielding. This means you can use a Plasmid with one hand while shooting 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a powerful weapon with the other. It's a fun feature that works really well. So much so that the first game would've also benefitted from it as quickly changing between Plasmids and guns can be tiresome.

However, if the feature was in the first game, it wouldn't have made much sense. After all, in the first BioShock, you play as a regular guy - at least physically regular. Therefore, he wouldn't be able to carry some of the bigger weapons in one hand. Yet, the lack of realism may have been worth it.

5 ❀ Little Sisters ꩵ

BioShock 2: Holding a happy looking Little Sister

The creepy-looking Little Sisters appear in both games. Yet, the girls from the first game function a little differently from those in the sequel. When you find one in the original BioShock, you have the option to either harvest or rescue them. Harvesting them gets you more ADAM,💮 which yo𒈔u can use to improve your character. Yet, rescuing them is the more noble decision, and it grants you some bonuses.

During the second game, your initial options are to harvest or adopt the girls.👍 After choosing the latter, you escort the girl to a body that is filled with ADAM, and she takes some. While she is harvesting, you must protect her. When she has all she needs, you have another chance to harvest her or save the girl by placin♓g her in a vent.

4 🥃 𒊎 BioShock 2 Has Multiplayer

A player teams up with a teammate to take down an enemy in Bioshock 2's multiplayer

While BioShock is a series most known for its single-player adventure, the second entry does include multiplayer. It's set before the first game during the Rapture Civil War. There's some story to it, but it's mostly just a traditional PVP multiplayer experience.

As such, it includes a lot of the modes you expect, like deathmatch and capture the flag, yet they have a BioShock twist. For instance, their version of capture the flag is called capture the sister, where you must get ahold of a Little Sister and take her to the closet vent. While the whole multiplayer experience is enjoyable, it is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:easy to forget it exists. After all, the developers didn't even include it in the Remastered version of BioShock 2.

3 🅠 ൩ The Research Camera

The research camera has the same purpose in both games. You use the device t♉o learn more about enemies, which allows you to do more damage against them and earn some rewards. Where the two games differ in regards to the camera is how they function. In the first game, to research a subject, you simply take a picture of it. Every photo is given a grade, and the higher sco꧅re, the more you learn.

Instead of snapping pics, the camera from the second game records video. Therefore, you can start it rolling before a fight, and it gains data while you're brawling. And, unlike the first game, you don't need film to use the device.

2 𒈔 Melee Weapon 🐼

Bioshock 2 Weapons Drill Cropped

Both titles include a designated melee weapon for you to use in close-quarters combat. During the first game, you can utilize a wrench. It sounds like a pretty basic weapon, but it's actually among the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:best in the game. The tool, however, is nowheไre to be seen in BioShock 2. Instead, you get a decent-sized drill to use on the enemies.

Like the wrench, it is also a very useful and powerful weapon. With it, you can charge at the enemy, throw some uppercuts, or simply drill into the individual you're trying to kill. The tool does have a drawback, though, as you need fuel to power it. So, you won't be able to use its most impressive attacks all the time.

1 Playable Character 💟

Big Daddy with a Little Sister

Throughout the first BioShock game, you play as a normal guy called Jack. He has key ties to the story of the game, but from a physical standpoint, he's just an ordinary guy. There's nothing ordinary about BioShock 2's protagonist, though, as you control a Big Daddy.

To be more specific, he's a member of the Alpha series, and his name is Subject Delta. Naturally, who you are controlling plays into the story, but it also impacts gameplay. As a Big Daddy, you're noticeably tougher and more physically imposing than Jack. Plus, it could explain why he can do things Jack can't, such as duel-wield and adopt Little Sisters.
