This means heading east of the gate and keeping close to the village walls while surviving a gauntlet of arrows until you find an opening in the wall.
Once through, you'll find yourself on the other side of the locked gate, where the Earth Wolf patrols the boss arena.

First thing first, you should open up the locked gate. You can unlock it from the boss arena, and it'll save you from taking the long way to the boss and avoiding enemies again.
