In Chapter Two of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Black Myth: Wukong, the Destined One finds themselves in Sandgate Village. However, navi🎉gating this desert area is frustratingly difficult, not 🧸just because of the archers but also due to the many bosses surrounding the area's first Keeper's Shrine.
One of these is the E🌺arth Wolf, and while an optional miniboss, defeating it is necessary to gain its Spirit. Whether it's an oversized rat or a wolf is hard to tell, but that's the least of your worries, as the Earth Wolf has a few tricks up its sleeve. However, you've💎 also got some neat tricks from Chapter One that will help you one up on it.
How To Find The Earth Wolf
To reach the Earth Wolf, you'll need to take the long route, as this optional boss's arena is hidden opposite the locked gate from the Village Entrance Keeper's Shrine.
This means heading east of the gate and keeping close to the village walls while surviving a gauntlet of arrows until you find an opening in the wall.
Once through, you'll find yourself on the other side of the locked gate, where the Earth Wolf patrols the boss arena.
Here, you'll also encounter the Horse Guai NPC, tied to a shrine's pillar. Make sure to speak with him, either before or after the boss fight, to progress his questline and work toward the Urge Unfulfilled trophy.
Earth Wolf Attack Patterns
As expected, the Earth Wolf relies on a series of biting and mauling combos, and, of course, the best recourse for the Destined One is to master the dodge timings for these attacks.
Attack |
Description |
How To Counter |
---|---|---|
Leaping Strike |
This is the beast's opener. It jumps towards the Destined One and strikes with its claw before rolling on its back. |
Best avoided with a dodge roll to the sides when the claw is about to strike. |
Headbutt |
The Earth Wolf charges forward, aiming to hit the Destined One with a powerful headbutt. |
Gain some distance first and dodge to the sides when it is about to swing its head. |
Grab Attack |
The Earth Wolf releases an orange aura before pouncing to catch the Destined One. If it grabs you, it will toss you into the air and then maul you with its mouth for tons of damage. |
The Earth Wolf creates some distance before executing this move. The orange aura is your cue to anticipate its pounce, which can easily be avoided with a dodge. |
Rear Kick |
It will consistently resort to this move when you face its backside, kicking the Destined One with its hind legs. |
Expect this move to come when you're behind it, and dodge roll to the side to avoid its legs. |
Area Of Effect Howl |
This is the Earth Wolf's only area-clearing attack, where it lets out a roar. The damage is negligible if the Destined One gets caught in it. |
If the roar catches you, it’s not a major concern; however, you’ll know the Earth Wolf is about to use this move when it performs a swirling backstep. Use this opportunity to run away and avoid the atta🉐ck. |
Basic Combo |
The Earth Wolf's bites and scratches are its bread and butter. This combo usually consists of two successive attacks. If the Earth Wolf performs the scratch combo while standing on its hind legs, it may end up falling on its back. |
The Earth Wolf’s basic attacks can be easily avoided with simple dodge rolls, but you should always expect a second strike after the first. When the Earth Wolf falls on its back, keep your distance as it frantically flails its limbs, which can still deal damage to you. |
These are all the Earth Wolf's moves you can expect. However, this beast appears to have a leech effect, where it recovers a tiny fraction of its health when it bites the Destined One.
How To Beat The Earth Wolf
Earth Wolf Boss Preparations
Before you do anything to engage the Earth Wolf boss in battle, you should follow these general tips to prepare effectively against it.
First thing first, you should open up the locked gate. You can unlock it from the boss arena, and it'll save you from taking the long way to the boss and avoiding enemies again. If you take the long way around, the enemies you encounter may also enter the boss arena, and you'll have more than the boss on your mind t🥂o deal with.
From Chapter One's Black Wind Mountain, you'll have amassed a bunch of helpful Spirits. While the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Wandering Wight is powerful, and we all love him, we recommend switching to Guangmou and his snakes for this fight. The Earth Wolf is susceptible to the Poison Bane, making this Spirit particularly effective.
Skip on consuming attack buffing Pellets for this encounter; they are best reserved f🤪or more challenging bosses later in the Yellow Wind Ridge region.
As for your Curios, consider equipping and Cat Eye Beads. These will give you the extra stamina needed to stay aggressive and dodge effectively while increasing your chances of landing critical hits.
In Black Myth: Wukong, you can respec as many times as you want without any trade-off. If you still need to unlock it, take the time to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:reset your Sparks and learn the Thrust Stance and under Smash Stance. Feel free to spend the rest of the🌺 Sꦉparks as needed.
The Earth Wolf isn't tough, but with said preparati🦄ons, this boss fight will start feeling like a breeze.
Earth Wolf Boss Easy Strategy
At the start of the fight, you should close the distance quickly to prevent the beast from resorting to its leaping strike opener, which it'll likely do if you tarry around. Get the jump on it to land the first hit, and use your spell to safely deal some initial damage.
When Immobilize wears off, activate your spell to strike the with a powerful hit, then summon Guangmou's snakes to inflict the Poison Bane. Immediately, follow this up by transforming into Guangzhi for a powerful burst of fire damage while applying the Burn Bane simultaneously.
Both Banes will quickly whittle down the Earth Wolf's health before wearing off.
The Earth Wolf is also vulnerable to stagger effects from the Skyfall Strike and heavy attack. When it staggers and falls on its back, seize the opportunity to punish it further, but retreat when it starts flailing its limbs.
As for the Earth Wolf's attacks, most are relatively straightforward to dodge as they have a long wind up. Your only concern, however, should be the grab attack, as ꧋it can cause a lot of hurt to the Destined One.
While aggressiveness is key to success against this boss, as there are many openings to exploit, it's also important to keep an eye on your stamina bar so it doesn't run out.
Withꦚ that said, stay on the offensive while avoiding the Earth Wolf's attacks, and you'll come out of this ⛎boss fight victorious in no time.
Earth Wolf Rewards
Upon successful defeat, the Earth Wolf nets you Two Yarn, Two Silk, 758 XP, and 761 Will. While these rewards are automatically picked, the Earth Wolf also leaves its Spirit behind for you to absorb.
If you've left the boss arena without collecting the Earth Wolf's Spirit and don't find it upon your return, then don't worry. You simply need to rest at a Keeper's Shrine, where you'll find the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:option to retrieve its Spirit.
Like many Spirits, the Earth Wolf's Spirit has both an active and passive ability. Equipping it increases your Focus buildup with each attack, while its Wild Rapture skill lets you take its form, charging recklessly at enemies and staggering them in the process.
