BlizzCon is coming, and Blizzard Entertainment wants everyone to know th🐻at they’re wayward MOBA still isn’t dead yet.
Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard’s MOBA that originally intended to battle it out against Dota2 and League of Legends for a piece of the MOBA pie. After several years of development, trying to find the proper monetization model, and adding as many new maps and characters as they could, HotS just never seemed to break out from its niche role 🤪in the larger Blizzard pantheon.
Needless to say, the game didn’t make much of a dent in either Dota2 or LoL, so Blizzard transferred out much of the game’s dﷺevelopment tea💫m, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:canceled its entire esports scene, and put the game on virtual life support.
At least, that was the impression that HotS fans all got last December when these announcements were made. Expecting the game to be dead months ago, we’re surprised to find out that Blizzard is still supporting Heroes of the Storm and even gave t🎐he MOBA a nod on their 🌱official Blizzcon post art.
The poster was revealed last week on Blizzard’s Twitter account. As usual, an assortment of Blizzard game characters is showcased, including Overwatch’s Tracer, Diablo 3’s Barbarian, Sylvanas from World of Warcraft, as well ♔as a strange mecha character in the upper left corner.
Heroes of the Storm fans kn🎃ow that mecha is actually a skin for Tyrael, released several years ago as part of a them💃ed content update for the game. Not only does it turn Tyrael into a mobile mecha suit it also changes his voice lines, gives him a custom mount, and alters his animations and abilities.
It’s not something that anyone but HotS fans would know about, and༒ it seems like a sure sign that Blizz🎃ard hasn’t quite given up on their little MOBA yet.
HotS also recently got its second original character, Qhira. Although some of her abilities seem to be taken from other characters already found in the game, her design doesn’t fit into any of Blizzard’s other IPs, and seems to be signalling Blizzard’s intent to give HotS its own branding apart from its original intent of just stealing from every other game unꦺder Blizzard’s umbrella.
We’ll fไind out what Blizzard has in store at this year’s BlizzCon, starting on November 1st. Hopefully this year’s goes a little smoother than last year’s.
