Little is known about this mysterious beast within the game's lore — other than his fighting prowess and his knack for shooting fire and elemental orbs. Though fans remarked that this boss errs on the easier side, those going in without knowing what to expect can be blindsided by some powerful elemental moves and aggressive attacks.
This guide will lay out various details 🌄regarding this ominous monster; touching on his location, loot, and going over some tips for beating him.
Where And When Can You Find The Rampager?
Players will be able to fight The Rampager for the first time during the Chapter ten mission, entitled "Beneath the Meridian." He is located within The Forgotten Basilica on the planet Promethea.
- The boss will be level 20 upon clashing with him for the first time, so it's a good idea to at least be at this level also to have a good chance at defeating him but 20-22 is an optimal range for fighting him.
After making your way through a tunnel crawling with Guardians and/or Maliwan forces, you'll approach an underground temple, The Forgotten Basilica. Stock up on any ammo, health, or clear inventory as needed at the refill machines. Slide down the pit just beyond this, and you'll enter the arena where you'll find the beast. You'll be instructed to put the acquired key into the pedestal. Doing so will initiate the battle with The Rampager.
The Rampager's Characteristics And Moves
-
This boss comes with three semi-unique phases, each with different mechanics, moves, and elemental attacks.
- Phase One: The Rampager uses Radiation attacks, and he'll leap across the arena, firing energy balls. He's more aggressive in this phase as he'll run towards you and use close-range moves. Explosive weapons are ideal for this part, but be careful not to fire from too close when using these.
- Phase Two: Corrosive damage is used, and the Rampager will begin, well, "Rampaging" through the area, wrecking things in his wake. Rocks and debris will begin falling from the ceiling.
- Phase Three: The Rampager will breathe fire in a dragon-esque move, as well as throw fireballs at you. In true dragon form, he'll also fly around at this stage. This is a good time to counter with Cyro damage. Sniper rifles are also useful while he's flying and hopping around.
- Aim at his head and specifically his mouth, as these are his weak spots.
- Fire at the glowing wisps flying about either side of the arena to get a quick, easy Second Wind during Fight-for-your-Life.
- Guardians (Elder Spectres and Elder Wraiths) will also make appearances. These shouldn't be focused on too heavily — but they do allow for fairly simple Second Winds, as well as nabbing ammo.
- The Rampager will sometimes climb onto elevated platforms. Use this as an opportune time to pummel him with gunfire, as he rarely attacks during these actions.
Tips For Defeating The Rampager
-
His liberal use of projectile attacks means that you should keep moving for most of the fight, strafing and jumping frequently.
- Don't shoot him in between transformations, as he's impervious to damage at this stage.
- Watch for The Rampager to get stunned — which occurs when inflicted with a certain threshold of damage. Swoop in and deal close-range damage,
- It's a good idea to bring weapons that spray ammo fairly quickly and have high DPS, such as SMGs and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Jakobs-brand weapons. Be sure to bring plenty of ammo.
- Retreat to the higher regions on the steps fairly frequently, as this will allow you to avoid many of The Rampager's moves. Generally speaking, you'll want to keep moving and hanging out along the perimeter of the arena.
-
This isn't 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the most popular boss to farm given the length of the fight and average loot, but there is a handy exploit that makes farming simpler and more appealing. Immediately after The Rampager is defeated, he'll begin combusting. As this action occurs, quickly run into the vault, wait several seconds, and head back out.
- Once you've returned to the battleground, The Rampager should reappear. Be careful though — as he'll likely respawn directly on top of you, so be ready to flee and get plenty of distance.
- This exploit reportedly only works once following a patch — but it will allow you to take out The Rampager twice fairly quickly while doubling up on loot.
The Rampager's Loot
When it comes to The Rampager's loot, there is usually a bounty of world drop weapons, the bulk of which will be random and unpredictable. Plenty of rarer loot, including legendaries, can usually be had here. When it comes to dedicated drops, there are two main items:
- Good Juju: A legendary assault rifle from DAHL. The weapon has the nifty feature of completely refilling magazines after a kill. Additionally, each non-critical stacks 10 percent critical hit damage up to 25 times, which are removed when reloading, swapping your weapon, or entering Fight-for-your-Life. The weapon also offers boosts in weapon damage and reload speed.
- The Duc: A legendary pistol from Jakobs, which shoots sticky bullets that stick to targets and explode upon dealing non-elemental splash damage. Critical hits also ricochet two sticky bullets at the nearest enemy. The weapon provides a slew of boosts, including critical hit damage, weapon damage, and reload speed, while expanding the splash damage radius. This appears on Mayhem 4.
- The Rampager also yields an increased chance to drop the Quodomizer. This is a legendary rocket launcher from Torgue. The weapon deal elemental damage, and offers boosts to weapon fire rate and splash damage radius.
