Vault Hunters are the playable protagonists in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Borderlands series of games. Each of them hopes to find their way into the game's mysterious vaults. It is rumored that those who enter these vaults will be rewarded with untold riches and power. Perhaps fans should ask Handsome Jack about that.

While games like The Pre-Sequel 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:put much less focus on vaults, the playable characters in those games are still worth playing a🎐nd experiencing.

With four major games in the series now and multiple DLCs, there are a large number of options for players to choose from in each game. Whether you are playing the first Borderlands or the newest entry, here are 7 of the best Vault Hunters ꦅand the 7 worst in the Borderlands🐭 franchise.

Updated by Juliet Childers on December 2nd, 2020: Borderlands offers the holy trinity: engaging story, great gunplay, and tons of build options. Across the various titles in the series, there are 20 total playable Vault Hunters. Each of them possesses unique abilities on top of their own compelling backstories and motivations. Unfortunately, some of them are more minion than hunter.

14 Best:♒ Nisha

It seems that 2K Australia took what was problematic about Salvador in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Borderlands 2 and decided to balance his duaꦆl-wielding🎃 mechanic with Nisha.

Nisha is a gunslinger that does incredibly well with revolvers. Nisha can dual-wield pistols, ricochet bullets off of targets while in her ability, and her ability lets her effectively activate an aim-bot for a short time. This allows the player to land every shot they take. She is arguably one of the most fun characters to play in the entire series, taking Salvador's fun mechanic and making it somewhat balanced.

13 Worst: Moze 𝓀

Moze is not a terrible character in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Borderlands 3. She is actually a good ch😼oice for those who use Torgue weapons or love to throw grenades. Her niche is being a tank with one of her trees letting her sacrifice health in exchange for powerful shields.

, but her ability to regenerate ammo and grenades is what makes her usable. Moze's ability, the Iron Bear, is rather weak at Mayhem levels and sees limited use. There are better vault hunters for players taking part in higher-level content.

12 Best: Mordecai 🐼

Mordecai and Bloodwing in Borderlands 2.

Mordecai is a playable vault hunter in the original Borderlands game that launched the series. There aren't many vault hunters who can completely bypass a health type. Mordecai is one of the few exceptions as he is capable of bypassing shields entirely while enhancing most weapons.

He is able to augment his weapons with enhanced critical damage and fire rate. He is also one of the few characters in the franchise 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:that can enhance loot drops with his ability. Bloodwing can be upg🤡raded to make enemies drop additional it๊ems and money, too. This makes Mordecai a great character to farm items with.

11 Worst: Brick 🐬

Borderlands is a series known for its massive pool of randomized guns, quirky humor, and epic enemies to fight. Why Gearbox thought a melee character should be in their firs💙t entry of the series remains a perple꧅xing mystery for many fans.

Brick's ability allows him to punch enemies to death, but it seems to contradict the game's focus on random loot and bazillions of guns. He is not a horrible character, though; in fact, he can be quite fun to play. Brick is able to enhance explosive weapons he uses, making him incredible with Torgue weaponry.

Though the melee focus differentiates Brick from the rest of the cast, it doesn't feel as "at home" in the game.

10 Bes༺t: Amara ꦕ

Amara is the newest siren players can control in the Borderlands series. She is arguably the mos🔯t well-designed character in the entire game. Her badass demeanor only grows when she unleashes her Siren powers (sometimes in the form of six buff spectral arms).

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Every skill tree Amara has is unique and allows for interesting synergies with other skill trees and it🐈ems. She can be a fantastic melee character, fill the battlefield with terrifying elemental effects, or maintain a fast movement speed and fire rate to dominate most encounters.

M🎃ost fans agree that she can be𝓰 a pain to level. But a finished Amara build is incredibly fun to play, no matter the skills and items players use.

9 💧 Worst: Wilhelm

Wilhelm is one of the large antagonists in Borderlands 2 and is much less human than in Pre-Sequel. He appears to the♌ players as a large mech-human hybrid boss halfway through the game. His obsession with tech began small but eventually swallowed him whole.

As a playable character in Pre-Sequel, Wilhelm's niche is the use of drones on the battlefield. This allows him to deal additional damage or heal himself for massive amounts. Builds for Wilhelm are powerful but are simply boring compared to the likes of Nisha or Jack's double, Timothy.

8 Best: Krieg𝕴 ♉

Ever since fans have sunk their teeth into the Borderlands series, there has always been a desire to play as a bandit in some capacity🧔. Specifically, fans wanted to play as the common, fierce enemy known as the Psycho. These baddies tend to rush at ൲the player, blow themselves up, throw axes, and more.

A DLC for Borderlands 2 gave fans wh⛄at they wanted in the form ofဣ Krieg.

Krieg is a playable bandit psycho who can morph his body into a badass psycho, making him stand out above every other character in the series. His skill tree is incredibly pow♛erful with abilities like detonating enemies with his Bloodsplosion skill for ludicrous damage.

Fans were ecstatic when Gearbox revealed a Borderlands 3 DLC featuring Krieg.

7 🎀 ♒ Worst: Roland

Roland sat in a cell bed in Borderlands 2

Soldier archetypes have had a rough time carving a niche in Borderlands. Roland was part of the original cast for the first game, but he just doesn't bring enough to the table compared to the other three for solo play.

As a more classically trained soldier in Borderlands, turrets are Roland's specialty. His abilities let him lay down suppressive fire with a deployed turret that can also provide ammunition and health. Compared to Lilith's near invincibility or Mordecai's shield-piercing rounds, Roland's ability just doesn't cut it.

He works well in team play and develops tr⛄emendously as a character in Borderlands 2 though. As a vault hunter, however, there are much better options out there.

6 ⭕ Best: Salvador♎

10/10 fans agree: Salvador, the Gunzerker, is a walking bug. Many of his perks are so overpowered that it begs the question of whether they are working as intended. But Gearbox hasn't taken the time to totally nerf him (or include him in any recent Borderlands material).

RELATED: Borderla♕nds 2: The 10 Strongest Gunzerker Builds, Ranke🉐d

He is the only character in Borderlands 2 that can dual-wield guns. This allows him to equip a distinct weapon in each hand. With the game's introduction of Slag, many Salvador fans would use a Slag weapon to weaken targets and finish them off with their other weapon. Better yet: perks like Money Shot make Salvador able to instantly kill nearly every enemy in the game.

No vault hunter in the series 🐼comes close t♒o what Salvador is capable of.

5 🍎 Worst: Axton

Axton

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Axton is easily the worst vault hunter in the series. Making his debut in Borderlands 2, his turret does little to help his weak skill tree. His personality is also a bit bland in comparison to other charac🍬ters.

Axton is similar to Moze and Roland in that he relies on explosives and a support ability to be useful in a team. The issue is that his turrets have no health and deal almost no damage at higher🀅 levels. The only utility they provide uses a capstone that allows the turrets to slag enemies. This is easily achievable with literally any Slag gun.

His only remaining niche is using explosives, but that can arguably be done better by Krieg. He doesn't have any place in Borderlands 2's sandbox which makes💛 him the worst vault hunter in the fra♎nchise.
