Once they've been defeated, Stalnox will still rise again each night to be challenged. However, after the first time, a star appears beside their health bar to indicate that you've already defeated this boss. This guide helps you find all 10 Stalnox bosses that appear in Breath of the Wild.

Updated June 25, 2023, by Sean Murray: Just getting the Stalnox to spawn requires patience, so to make sure you can find them with patience to spare, we've refreshed this guide with breakout tips and better formatting for greater readability.

Requirements To Encounter The Stalnox

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Inactive Stalnox During The Day

Unlike Hinox, Stalnox are not just hanging around all the time for the player to wake up and take down. You'll be able to tell where the Stalnox will spawn because there will be a huge mound of bones there during the day.

For a Stalnox to be spotted at one of the ten possible locations, these conditions must be met:

  • It must be between 9 PM and 5 AM in-game
  • Link must not be too close to the Stalnox's spawn location or watching the bones just before 9 PM

If you can't defeat a Stalnox before 5 AM rolls around, it'll be too late; the Stalnox burrows underꦏgroun🐭d and will not reappear until the next night.

Mogg Latan Shrine

To find this Stalnox boss, start at the Mogg Latan Shrine. If this is one you haven't tracked down yet, it's almost immediately west of the Central Tower.

From Mogg Latan, jump off and glide southeast. You should be able t🦹o spot the Stalnox standing a little lower down the mountain, inside a semicircle of trees not very farꦫ from the shrine.

Spiral Ocean Stalnox

East Akkala Plains Stalnox and Ritaag Zumo Shrine

Location

East Akkala Plains

Nearest Fast Travel

Ritaag Zumo Shrine

The East Akkala Plains are, well, plains, so there aren't many distinguishing features to point to on a map to indicate where this Stalnox lives. Thankfully, it also means that you can spot it pretty easily among all the nothingness.

The Stalnox is almost exactly west of the Ritaag Zumo Shrine in the part of the plains closer to sea level.

If you haven't unlocked the Ritaag Zumo Shrine (or simply don't want the hassle of all that water in your way), you could also start a little further north at the Katosa Aug Shrine right beside the East Akkala Stable.

Stalnox With A View Of Hyrule Castle

East Hyrule Castle Stalnox and Namika Ozz Shrine

Location

East Hyrule Castle

Nearest Fast Travel

Namika Ozz Shrine

This Stalnox battle is extra tough due to all the other enemies present. Getting so close to Hyrule Castle always comes with risks, and the Guardians may spot you mid-battle.

However, locating the Stalnox is the easy part. Start from the Namika Ozz Shrine, west of Hyrule castle, and head directly east. The Stalnox is on the southern side of the little island between the Shrine andღ the castle which has a giant pillar on it.

Snowy Stalnox

Icefall Foothills Stalnox and Hia Miu Shrine

Location

Icefall Foothills

Nearest Fast Travel

Hia Miu Shrine

The difficulty for the Icefall Foothills Stalnox may be that you haven't ventured so far northwest yet. The Hia Miu Shrine, where players can start out looking for this Stalnox, is in the farthest northwestern corner of the map.

Once you reach this shrine, however, finding the boss is rather easy. Just travel east from the Hia Miu Shrine, not going up or down in elevation, along the cliffside: the Stalnox can be seen in the middle of a grove of trees.

Qukah Nata Shrine

The North Aris Beach Stalnox is so far away from Aris Beach that its name seems inconvenient at best. This beast can be found just south of the Qukah Nata Shrine 💙(which is on a cliff directly east of ▨Faron Tower).

If you haven't climbed this mountain yet to reach the Shrine, you could start from the Shai Utoh Shrine and travel in a semi-circle around Rassla Lake to get to your destination.

Or, for a slightly more direct route, take your horse to the Yah Rin Shrine, northwest of Lurelin Village, and just follow the road. When you reach the area south of the Qukah Nata Shrine, leave the path and travel directly south. The cliff will drop off into a sandy area where you can find the Stalnox.

The Harfin Valley Stalnox is pretty simple to find. Assuming Link has enough stamina, you can just jump off of Lake Tower (which is south of Lake Hylia) and glide directly south towards the Harfin Valley.

Saas Ko'sah Shrine

The labyrinth under Hyrule Castle is one that most players explore for themselves. There are plenty of ways to reach this Stalnox. The simplest, however, involves finding the Saas Ko'sah Shrine on the northeast end of Hyrule Castle.

Starting from there, travel west across the docks and swim outside into the moat. Climb the wall to the left to reach a Guardian who is protecting an entrance to the castle. Get past it, enter the Lockup area of the underground maze, and travel through to find the Stalnox in a circular room at the end.
