One Breath of the Wild player has managed to 🌳flood Hyrule with poison w🔴ater, a feature that was cut from the game during development.
With a game as big as Breath of the Wild, it's probably no surprise that plenty of its planned features never made it into the final product. One of these near-inclusions was poison water, which would have damaged or killed Link and other enemies if swam in. It's not clear exactly where or why it was going to be used but it was removed from the game nonetheless, despite apparently being pretty close to completion.
, that uses mods to restore the feature back🍌 to the game, showcasing how it w🐼ould have worked if it had been finished.
As you can see from the video, any characters who♔ touch the poison water take damage over time and event𒐪ually die if they remain in it too long. Interestingly, the rate of damage changes per character, with Link taking half a heart of damage every half second, whilst a Bokoblin can last a little longer in the purple stuff. Curiously, Cryonis is also disabled for poison water, likely to stop players from creating pillars to avoid being damaged.
After showcasing how t💟he poison water would have worked in-game, Waikuteru then shows a Hyrule that has been completely flooded by the purple liquid. This version of Hyrule looks incredibly difficult to navigate, as the water goes high above the Hyrule castle walls. One section of the video shows an NPC walking into the water, only to disappear once they reach the bottom. Another section shows that not even the Hinox can avoid being killed, as it seems to almost explode after a certain amount of time in the water.
Waikuteru included links to mods that made this video possible, saying that anyone's copy of the game can be modded to add the feature back in. According to the comments, the mod allows specific areas of Hyrule to be flooded with the water, not just the whole map.
