When one hears the title "Breath of the Wild" what images come to mind? Do players see sweeping landscapes of perhaps the most beautiful version of Hyrule ever rendered? Do they have the urge to climb the summit of Death Mountain, plunge into the deep waters of Lake Hylia, or lose themselves in the shade of Ko𒆙rok Forest?

The beauty and openness of BotW were so well-received by the gaming community that other developers definitely noticed, sometimes not for the best. For good or for bad, there are more than a few titles that took a piece or two from the Zelda juggernaut.

10 Decay of Logos ♎

Picture a hybrid game using bothBreath of the Wild and Dark Souls as inspiration. Now, remove all the fun from the Zelda side of things, replace it with the frustration and rage of the Souls series, and s💝tuff it to the gills with glitches. Needless to say, it didn't take the players' breath away. Try as she ﷺmight, Ada is no Link, Logos is no Hyrule, and this game belongs at the bottom of the barrel.

9 Ashen

Ashen is more of a Souls-like title than anything, but there are definitely notes of Zelda in its polygonal world design. Where Dark Souls was decrepit, depressing, and deformed, Ashen takes a more organic and natural approach to its world, specifically in the forest areas of the 𒁃game.

While it might lack toys like the glider, the Sheika Slate, and its various abilities, it's the open sense of exploration that separates it from its darker 𝓀inspi🏅ration.

8 Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey ꦺ

Ever wonder what would happen if 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:God of War was less gods, guts, and gore and more freedom to explore? Assassin's Creed Odyssey is the answer. While lacking traditional fantasy elements as seen in Botw, the game certainly has similar combat, exploration, and an open environment ins🌳pired by ancient Greece. With its mythic feel and swords-and-sandals combat, Link can certainly s🍷tand to learn a few things from Kassandra and Alexios, and vice versa.

Oceanhorn 2

One only has to look at the Oceanhorn games to know exactly where their influence came from. Can they be any more obvious? Where the first entry was a blatant rip off of Windwaker, the sequel is just a poor man's Breath of the Wild.

That all being said, the games are decent and are perfect for those players who want their Zelda fix on🤪 a budget. Still, ther𒈔e's no substitute for the real thing.

At first, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Genshin Impact might seem a blatantly shameless copy of BotW. However, this anime✤-infused open-world has more than a few new tricks up its sleeves, although it does steal quite a bit from Link's Sheika Slate. There are dozens of characters to m🎀ake exploring the beautiful world exciting, tons of content, and plenty of explorative fun to be had. A free-to-play title it might be, but one that can be fully experienced with a little extra grinding.

5 Windbound

To say that Windbound is essentially Breath of the Wild but ജwith more boats wouldn't be an unfair comparison. It has a very similar art style but focuses more on the sﷺurvival elements out in the great unknown and the open ocean.

Evoking as much from Windwaker as it does BotW, this ocean-bound ad꧅venture will certainly satisfy seafaring fans of the game that inspired it. Could do with a few more Bokoblin fights, though.

4 Effie

via Steam

Effie takes much more from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Odyssey than it does Breath of the Wild, but in all honesty, what world would the bearded shield-bearer be more at home in, the plains of the Mushroom Kingdom or the dungeons of Hyrule? While the action-platformer might be a bit more close-quartered that the open-world counterpart, but it's combat-rich, fantasy elements certainly feel very Link-like. Looks might be deceiving, but there were Zelda-fans on the development team.

3 CrossCode

Imagine if Breath of the Wild went old school and relied on SNES era 16-bit graphics instead of the fully rendered environments. The result is Crosscode.

Even with the game's cyberpunk-inspired protagonist and virtual-reality setting, seeing the futuristic protagonist standing in the middle of a lush, green field certainly evokes imagery of the Hylian plains. Though not an outright ripoff, this Zelda-like knows🦄 exactly where its origins lie and makes no a🐬ttempt to hide it.

2 Horizon Zero D🎉awn

Aloy from horizon forbidden west stares out into the sunset

It's been repeated time and time again that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Horizon Zero Dawn is the PS4's answer to Breath of the Wild. Even the box art has a similar style. Replace all of the mechanized guardians and giant fantasy monsters with cybernetic creatures and robotic behemoths and the idea comes across clear as day. Aloy might be a bit more gifted with the bow than her pointy-eare🌊d peer, but her title definitely feels like a fine follow-up for a more futuristic alternative to Hyrule.

1 Immortals: Fenyx Rising ꦯ

immortals fenyx rising

This game hasn't even been released yet but already players can tell it shamelessly takes a lot from Breath of the Wild. Even at just a first glance of production art resembles BotW with a Greek mythology reskin. That all being said, it does look to improve on the open-world-Zelda-like formula with some new additions like the wings of Daedelus and the tongue-in-cheek narration from Zeus and Hephaestus. Will it be a successor to the other titl♎e or just a shameless knockoff? Time will tell.
