The sprawling The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn’t done with jus🧜t yet. Even seasoned veterans who have sunk hundreds of hours into the game still have more to see. This fantastic-looking playable Zelda mod in the making, for one thing.

Breath of the Wild is a game that needs no introduction. It’s seen success on Wii U𝕴 (insofar as anything could have succeeded on that poor, malnouri🦩shed console), , some expansive and ridiculous motorcycle-flavoured DLC… it’s been a wild ride.

Where does Breath of the Wild stand in the pantheon of Zelda games? That depends who you ask. Where does it stand in the more general arena of open-world action games? Again, that’s a conte💎ntious question. If we can all agre𓂃e on one thing, it’s that there is a heaping helping of content on offer here. Do you know what we don’t get a lot of, though? Dear old Princess Zelda, that’s what.

As anyone’s who’s taken one of her Smash Bros. lightning kicks to the face will tell you, Zelda is no damsel in distress. She doesn’t get to take the starring role, though, which is a little odd. It’s not called The Legend of Link, after all. In an effort to redress this balance, a talented team of modders are working to make Zelda the hero(ine) of Breath of the Wild.

As reports, this whole thing started with WilianZilv and Skriller, two mod𝔉ders who wanted to see if they could fit a Zelda model cleanly over Link’s in the game. This was a tall order, as the princess appears only in cutscenes, but with a little jiggery-pokery in the game files (excuse the technical jargon), they found a base to work from. Another moddeꦚr, Ainz, saw the potential of what they were doing, and set about trying to make the mod more ambitious.

And so the Zelda Conversion Project was born. There are now over twenty people working on it, and their goals range from crafting exclusive new armor for their heroine Zelda (such as ) to crafting a new title screen and even editing ⛎some of the documents in game, to reflect Zelda’s feelings and thoughts.

As you can tell from꧅ , it’s a huge challenge. Particularly with the Wii U /Swi꧂tch issue (the latter of which they believe they’ll be able to mod ‘soon’). Even so, these are some true modding talents, and they’re doing some amazing things.
