𒁏 Broken Sword: Reforged Interview - How Bringing The G𓂃ame To Fans Has Changed Since The ‘90s
At Gamescom, we spoke with Revolution Software's Charles Cecilও about Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged.
This walkthrough is going to cover the game as if you were playing in Classic Mo🦄de and we'll aim to stick to the key information you need to progress, though we recommend you explore a little to ⛎appreciate the game to its fullest. Here's how to get started.
Café De La Chandelle Verte
Once you gain control of George after the explosion, pick up the newspaper in the foreground just beside the lamp post.
A Note On Optional Content
You can go into the alley to the right of the screen, or into the cafe and speak to the waitress about what happene𝓰d, or you can skip this entirely as neither is necessary.
Broken Sword has many scenes like this and they can be quite funny or interesting. For example, y𓃲ou can tell the waitress you are a doctor and give her some alcohol. In a later conversation with the police, she then won't corroborate yꦰour story because she became drunk.
It doesn't change the overall direction of the narrative, but there are some funny scenes and conversations you can see play out by exploring a little more. We won't cover all♑ the optional content in these walkthroughs but feel free to look around.
You can then turn around and head north towards the workman and onto the next screen. There, you will be stopped by the police who will then take you to the cafe where the ex🌺plosion took place.
In the cafe, Rosso will question you. Answer his questions however you see fit, it doesn't matter either way. At the end of the conversation, he'll give you his business card and you'll exit the ꦍcafe.
You'll notice a woman walking around taking pictures, this is Nicole Collard (Nico). Speak with her about the following:
- The clown
- Plantard (the guy who died in the explosion)
- The clown
After you've chosen all three options, she'll give you her phone number and leave.
Once again, there is optional content here. During most conversations, there are a lot more subꦇjects you can speak about to learn more about the narrativeಌ or for funny lines.
Ultiꦑmately, yo♋u can just choose the only options you need to progress, or you can choose to exhaust the other options first to learn more.
Head north to the screen with the workman again. Open your inventory, select the newspaper, and then select the workman to give it to him. After he leaves, check his tool box in the little tent and George will grab the sewer Key.
Return to the cafe, then exit to the right of the screen into the alleyway. Open your inventory and use the sewer key on the manhole cover to open it up. Afterwards, head on down into the sewer.
Head to the right and grab the red ball, which is actually a clown nose, then head to the far back exit to the right of the screen.
On the next screen, pick up the tissue from the floor, then grab the scrap of material from the ladder. Finally, head up the ladder.
You'll be immediately stopped by a man as you exit. Choose any answer you want regarding why you were down there.
To progress, do the following:
- Show him Rosso's business card.
- Show him the scrap of material.
- Ask about the jacket until you get the tailor's number. (It's four times I believe.)
Stop talking to him and he'll let you out, right by the workman's tent. Use the phone beside the tent to call Nico.
She'll invite you to her apartment, so exit to the right of the screen and choose Rue Jarry as your next location.
Rue Jarry
Speak to the woman knitting beside the flower stall and ask her about Nico to learn how to open the apartment door.
Next, use the door directly behind the flower seller to go up to Nico's apartment.
Inside the apartment, speak to Nico about:
- The scrap of material
- The clown nose
It i𒁏s quite funny to keep showing eve🍃ryone you speak to the dirty tissue.
End the conversation, it's time to head to the costume shop! Once you exit the apartment, exit the screen on the left and then choose La Risée du Monde as your next destination.
The Costume Shop
Inside the costume shop, speak🅺 to the man behind the 𒆙counter about the following:
- The dirty tissue.
- The photo of the man with the briefcase until he gives you the name of Khan.
End the conversation and you'll get an electric hand buzzer.
You need to phone Todyrk the tailor next. Speak to him about the photo of Khan and he'll tell you about the hotel.
There are a few phones in different locations you can use, such as the workman's phone, the🐠 phone in Nico's apartment, or the phone at the police station.
Head back to the map and choose the Hotel Ubu as your next destination.
Hotel Ubu
Head inside the hotel and speak to the woman playing the piano to show her the photo of Khan. She'll tell you he goes by the name of Moerlin. Speak to her about Khan/Moerlin until the icon disappears.
End the conversation and head to the left towards the desk clerk. Behind him is a key hanging on a green board, try and take it but the clerk will stop you.
Head back to the pianist Lady Piermont and speak to her about the key. She'll distract the clerk, so as soon as he's left the desk, grab the key. Next, head upstairs.
Upstairs, use the key on the first door on the right. Open the window and climb outside. Move to the right and go in through the open window, into Khan's room.
Next, try and leave through the door, but George will notice Khan retu✤rning and get into the wardrobe to hide.
Search the clothes he left on the bed to find a matchbook and a pass card.
Leave the room and head back to the clerk downstairs. Speak to him about the safe, then show him Moerlin's pass card.
Speak to Lady Piermont again and show her Moerlin's pass card and she'll come with you to the clerk to force him to hand over the conte🍰nts of the safe. Now you have your hands on the manuscript.
Do🀅n't go outside. This is one of the few occasions you can die in the game if you make the wrong move, and those thugs outside are waiting for you... and that manuscript.
Go upstairs and use the key to enter the first room on the right again. Go to the window and head outside, then use the manuscript from your inventory with the alleyway below.
Go back inside, head downstairs, and leave the Hotel Ubu. Two thugs will 🅘pat you down. Aren't you glad we ditched the🥂 manuscript first?
Head into the alleyway to the left of the hotel's entrance﷽ and George will retrieve the manuscript, after which you'll automatically go to Nico's apartment.
Once the automatic conversation ends, speak to Nico about the manuscript again and she will say she knows an expert called Lobine𝓰au that you can speak to and gives you the muse⭕um address.
End the examination of the manuscript and the conversation and return to the map so you can head to the Musée Crune next.
Musée Crune
Go inside the museum and inspect the tripod in the center of the room. This give✤s you yoꩲur next clue, Ireland!
Leave the museum and select the Aéroport on the map, and then choose Lochmarne in Ireland.
