The♌ bundle gained notoriety when it went live due to its immense library of over 1000 games. Of the titles up for grabs, there are critically acclaimed indie hits such as Minit, Underhero and Cook, Serve, Delicious 2. Most notable however is Liyla and the Shadows of War, a platformer created by Palestinian game developer, Rasheed Abueideh, which follows the events of the 2014 war in Gaza, in which 30% of those who died were children.
Organized by Alanna Linayre, founder of Toadhouse Games, the bundle is a collaboration of 865 creators sharing their work. In just the four days it has been available it has proven to be the gaming community's most successful fundraising effort for humanitarian aid in Palestine. Previous feats include a charity Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament which raised $20,000, and various streamers raising anything between $25,000 and $200,000 for v🌱arious charities.
The mon𒉰ey raised from the itch.io bundle is going to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which has been working on the ground in Gaza throughout the renewed attacks on the area. The most recent wave of violence started in early May, when Palestinians protested the planned forced eviction of six families. By the time a ceasefire was called, 256 Palestinians were killed, 66 of which were children. In Israel, 13 people were killed, including two children. Fundraisers have taken place across the gaming industry and beyond, as those living in Gaza are in urgent need of physical and mental health support.
Anyone interested in claiming the 1,019 titles for themselves can do so for j꧃ust $5, but can choose to donate more to the charity if they are able. The bundle will be up for grabs until June 11, and currently sits at a total of $534,209 in donations.
