Jedi: Survivor improved on Jedi: Fallen Order in many ways. I’m a fan of its , and Cal Kestis gaining a personality and a deeply compelling story to𒀰 boot. Most of the things that I felt ambivalent towards in Fallen Order have been built on and resh♕aped to be extremely compelling in Survivor – and one of those things is the game’s customisation.
In Fallen Order, customisation was pretty straightforward. There were chests across each map that, when opened, would give Cal a new coloured poncho, new lightsaber parts, and paint schemes for BD-1 and the Mantis, the ship he and his friends travel in. It was fine. I didn’t particularly care what ♐colour poncho Cal had, or what his lightsaber looked like, so it wasn’t very important to me to hunt down every chest in the game.
Survivor, though, ratchets up the fun to new heights. Hilariously, you can pick up new hair and beard styles in the sequel – open up a chest, and find… a mullet! Or a goatee, or a crew cut, or a pair of pants. You might also find paint schemes for BD-1, your lightsaber and your blaster, and you can mix and match colours🐻 from different schemes. You can also pick up currencies unique to each planet and spend them with merchants to get new looks.
People have been having fun dressing up their Cals, myself included. I cycled through a number of looks during my playthrough✤, including Cowboy Cal which consisted of an absolutely ridiculous extended moustache, mullet, frontier jacket and pants. I eventually settled on a manbun, a training shirt, and no jacket, because Cal’s arms are very nice and I quite enjoyed watching him take down fascist oppressors while looking like a hipster white yoga teacher. He looked like we would meet at a craft beer place and he would neg me. I was, unfortunately, into it.
I didn’t think customisation would be something about Survivor I liked so much. I’m fairly sure the diversity of outfits I could create alone somehow made me develop a crush on Cameron Monaghan, which is deeply embarrassing for me. I am, typically, not the kind of person who enjoys spending 20 minutes dressing a character, and then another half an hour taking pictures of Cal from different angles. When I play , I don’t even care that much about what my Sims wꦗear.
I suspect it might be the idea of personalisation that got me stuck in – in Fallen Order, I was choosing between a limited number of differently coloured ponchos, but Survivor lets me create a Cal of my own. I choose his hair, his beard (or lack of, in my case), his pants, his jacket. He’s not just any Cal, he’s my Cal, customised to what I think makes his character most interesting. Some people want him to look like Jesus, some want him to look like Anakin, some want him to look like a space cowboy. For me, his character arc is most interesting when he looks a little like a fuckboy, because dissonance or whatever, and also because he looks very hot. I’ve never liked playing with dolls, but maybe when the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Barbie movie comes out, I’ll come back to Survivor and give🔯 Cal a new outfit.
