Activision recently released a press release that revealed the 𒐪earnings and growth from its departments in the first quarter of 2021. As expected, Call of Duty was in the spotlight, with💙 the main news being that the franchise saw its users tripled thanks to Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile.
The Call of Duty developer saw an increase of roughly 72% compared to last year, as it dedicates most of the rapid growth to the Call of Duty titles that have released over the years, along with some contriඣbution from World of Warcraft and Candy Crush. Call of Duty: Warzone was released in the mont🌟h of March last year, as the game skyrocketed in downloads since the day of release - with a solid reputation globally as the most popular battle royale game out there.
Another factor in the substantial growth that Activision points out in its is Call of Duty Mobile - with the game reaching mountainous numbers, surpassing the expectations of many, perhaps even the developers themselves. The free-to-play model used by both Warzone and CoD Mobile has helped the franchise hit never before seen numbers in the🎐 market. Activision reports an almost 300% growth in monthly active users on its database thanks to these two major titles, finally surpassing the 150 million monthly player mark for this quarter.
With the increase in active users, there has been an unprecedented amount of in-game spending as well, as revenue from in-game purchases has also grown 𒈔immensely this quarter. The mobile version of the game saw the highest player spending ever in a season this March, with April's season doing even better at its current phase. Moreover, CoD Mobile has alsoﷺ recently been released in China as its own separate version, with the game clocking in tens of millions of users from just the initial weeks.
Another factor which has helped boost the Call of Duty label is the official Call of Duty League - where teams from different cities across the world battle it out with each other in a bracket-style competition. The 2021 season is also doing better than expected, with great viewer counts as reported by Activ🍰ision.
