Originally the developers of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Medal of Honor series, much of 2015 Games would leave to form 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Infinity Ward. They wanted to create an FPS series that would challenge the Medal of Honor series and bury it in the dirt. This franchise would be called 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Call of Duty.
The first game set a standard for intense gunfights, AI teammates, and a semblance of realism to enhance the game's immersion. Infinity Ward would go on to make 7 additional Call of Duty titles, ranging from genre-defining to disappointing. Here is every Infinity Ward Call of Duty title ranked from worꦛst to best based on Metacritic scores.
8 Call of Duty: Ghos▨ts (73/2.7)
After 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Modern Warfare 3 received a mixed reception amongst Call of Duty fans expecting an amped-up version of Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward was at an impasse. With a new generation of consoles on the horizon, they decid✱ed to double down on🌟 technology instead of mechanics.
It failed spectacularly. Before the game released, there was talk on "advanced fish AI" and dog models instead of how the game would change. Gameplay-wise, Ghosts is much more focused on larger maps and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:spread-out encounters than past entries to the dismay of fans and most critics. The campaign was nothing spectacular, with a cliffhanger ending that is yet to be resolved. Ghosts' wacky DLC game modes and additions somewhat lessened the blow, but the 🧸damage was already done.
7 Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (🥃78/3.7)
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was never going to succeed. Its reveal trailer is the 6th most disliked video on YouTube and locked a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare reboot behind an $80 ജLegacy Edi🌊tion for half a year.
With that said, Infinite Warfare is far from a bad game. Its campaign was a nice change of pace that allowed players to tackle missions in any order they wanted from a hub area. Multiplayer had some issues with guns releasing in a game-breaking state but was otherwise a solid take on the exosuit-era of Call of Duty combat. Infinite Warfare's Zombies offering was, unfortunately, lacking compared to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Treyarch's version and even Sledgehammer's take on the formula in Advanced Warfare.
6 ℱ Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (80/3.7)𒊎
Not to be confused with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the 2019 reboot titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a radical shift back to the series' roots.
Modern Warfare 2019 took players back to the modern setting with plenty of new additions. Ground War consisted of 64 players, Gunfight was added, Realism mode was a welcome surprise until Infinity Ward inexplicably removed it from matchmaking, and its version of Battle Royale, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Warzone, was one of the best additions Call of Duty has seen.
With that said, Modern Warfare's controversial campaign that rewrites real-world events coupled with a lackluster Spec Ops mode left a bad taste in a few people's mouths. The game's bias toward🐻s camping thanks to lou🍌d footsteps and Skill-Based Matchmaking has also sparked anger amongst much of the game's community.
5 Call 𝔉of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (88/3.4)
In retrospect, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 received much more negativity than it deserved. Many complained it was "Modern Warfare 2.5" with balance tweak𝕴s and new guns, but that's underselling what this game accomplished.
Modern Warfare 3 made major changes to killstreaks with the introduction of Strike Packages. Players could choose between getting 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:lethal killstreaks, support streaks, or perks on kills. Capturing objectives and being a team player also counted as kills in this game, which resulted in a much healthier competitive scene. Better yet, the Spec Ops mode was massively improved in this installment with missions that expand on the campaign. Survival mode was also fantastic and🌠, with a few🙈 tweaks, could compete with Treyarch's Zombies mode.
Unfortunately, many fans saw these changes as too minor and subseque♎ntly stopped playing the game shortly after 🐈launch. Those in the competitive scene or stuck around post-launch will frequently rave about the game's post-launch support and balance.
4 ♓ 🐷 Call of Duty 2 (89/8.2)
Infinity Ward impressed critics and FPS fans alike with the first Call of Duty🃏. A sequel was inevitable given the 𓃲game's success.
Fortunately, it improved in virtually every area possible. The gunplay felt more responsive, the visuals were much better, and the locations were much more varied this time around. It had a solid multiplayer offering as well, although it was nowhere near as popular as the Modern Warfare series would become. If Call of Duty made the Medal of Honor series irrelevant, Call of Duty 2 put its competition into obscurity.
3 ൲ Call of Duty (91/8.5) ♍
Fans might be surprised that the first Call of Duty was rated so highly by critics when it released in 2003. It has a rather barebones multiplayer 🅺offering and no third game type, resulting in many fans ignoring the title altogether.
Yet Call of Duty found a way to take the fun of Medal of Honor's lone-wolf gameplay and expand it with friendly AI and immersive audio. Fighting in a realistic depiction of World War II sounds boring 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:by today's standards, but the focus towards realism in the original Call of Duty was a breath of fresh air at the time. It might not have been the title that made the𒀰 series synonymous with the 🍒FPS genre, but it certainly left a mark that would give way to future titles.
2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (94/6🔴.5)
No game can capture the pure chaos of Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer. Games such as Titanfall focus on high mobility and fast reaction times, but even that doesn't compare to what MW2 offered.
Nearly every game was filled with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:overpowered weapons. Danger Close grenade launchers, tactical knives paired with Commando, cross-map grenades, and some sort of deadly aerial killstreak. It was in every way an unbalanced mess, but it was the most addictive unbalanced multiplayer game Infinity Ward ever made. Its campaign and Spec Op🀅s modes were solid, but the bulk of the praise was thanks to the game's inꦏcredible multiplayer mode that people play to this day.
1 🗹 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (94/8.5) ♔
This is the game that put Call of Duty on every gamer's radar. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare took the fantastic gameplay of the past three CoDs and morphed it into a modern shooter with 🔯astounding success.
A fantastic campaign sets a player's expectations for the chaotic and addictive multiplayer. This is the first Call of Duty title that introduced Create-A-Class, a way for players to select weapons and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:passive perks to give them an edge in battle. Persistent progression gave every match purpose to make losing just as fun as winning. These pseudo-RPG elements have since been replicated in virtually every FPS game with multiplayer. It was received with glowing praise amongst critics and FPS fans alike, hence why it's the highest-rated Call of Duty title on Metacritic.
