In the month following it's September 25 release, Nintendo's Mario Kart Tour was leading the pack with its 123.9 million downloads in the first month following its release. This pace that was faster than every other mobile game besides Pokémon Go, which got 163 m💙illi⛦on downloads in the same time period.
Now, the free-to-play racer has to settle for third place, since new numbers show that Call of Duty Mobile had been downloaded an astounding 148 million in the 🦋31 days after it hit iOS and Android on October 1, 2019.
Call of Duty's new mobile game has also surpassed Mario Kart Tour in the amount of revenue it drew in. Mario Kart Tour's gacha mechanics got people to shell out $37.4 million with hopes of getting new characters and karts. Meanwhile, Call of Duty Mobile's weapon and perk marketplace convinced players to shell out a total of $53.9 mill🤡ion.
While the numbers from both of these games are impressive, the revenue doesn't quite reach Fire Emblem Heroes' first month, when it made $67.6 million, despite only being downloaded 9.7 million times. And, of course, this all pales in comparison to the $207 million that Pokémon Go made in just its first month.
Even though these big names have been making big money in the mobile market, their high sales not be as long-lasting as one might expect. shows that while both Mario Kart Tour and Call of Duty Mobile are still making plenty of money, they're no longer at the top of the revenue charts. They've already been replaced by longer-running games such as Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle, Candy Crush, and Toon Blast.
Time💖 will tell if Call of Duty and Mario Kart will manage to🃏 stay at the top of the mobile revenue charts, or if their success will end up being short-lived.
