Whenever there is even a hint of players being able to pay to win in free-to-play games, people are all over it. Chances are Warzone players will let this one slide, though.
Fr☂eeꦰ-to-play games are great, especially when any paid elements of those games are added or cosmetic extras that won't improve a player's skills. Any hint of an item or ability that can be bought giving people an edge over players who don't have that ability or item is bound to cause trouble, even if it was unintentional.
A pay-to-win tactic reared its head in Warzone this week but don't worry, it's not controversial. A player found themselves without any teammates against a full squad in the final circle. Rather than face the fou🌠r of them and their RPGs, the wiley player hunkered down next to a Buy Station in the middle of the gas.
The player then proceeded to buy gas mask after gas mask with the in-game currency they had accrued throughout the match. The tactic paid off as the rival squad wound up succumbing to the gas before the lone player did. So the gas-mask buying loner technically paid to win the match,🐻 but only because they managed to pick up enough in-game currency throughout the round for that to be an option.
