Look, I know you've all been asking for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Half-Life 3 for… a while. It's one of those ‘will they, won't they?’ games that garners a joke or a mention at every gaming event and showcase, year after year. Aside from the usual ‘we got [insert cultural happening here] before GTA 6’ jokes that we'll see for the best part of another year, it's the most persistentꦰ bit of gamer anticipation.

Imagine if we got Half-Life 3 before GTA 6? I think the uni✃vers🎃e might actually just implode if that happens.

But here's the thing:ꦓ I have no idea if Valve is actually working on anything to follow up the sequel from 21 years ago, but I have a suggestionꦜ.

Don't give us Half-Life 3. Give us🐎 Half-Life: Alyx 2. Or, something along those lines.

No Other VR Game Has Come Close Since

The Half-Life: Alyx City 17 Citadel.

Half-Life has carried significant weight in the games industry sinc♚e its original release in 1998, and each new entry has left a lasting impression on gamers and studios. There's no denying its impact on players, so people wanting another game is꧋ only natural.

But five years ago, we got 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Half-Life: Alyx. A prequel to Half-Life 2, Alyx is a game built entirely for virtual reality, which is still a rough patch for the gaming market - and I honestly don't think that's ever going to change - purely because it's a muc𓃲h smaller pool of consumers compared to those who have access to PCs and consoles.

However, despite the milder presence of VR audiences in the worl💧d, Half-Life: Alyx made no less of a significant impression on the platform. It was easily the best virtual reality experience available, with incredible visuals, engaging and unique mechanics, and dramatic set pieces that'll have you on the edge of your… seat? Floor? Wherever you're playing your VR.

The point is, no other virtual reality games have come close to this since. Sure, there are plenty of incredible and varied VR games out there, like Boneworks or Batman: Arkham Shadow, b🏅ut Half-Life: Alyx retains the crown in the VR market.

Half-Life Should Just Become A VR Series

Aside from the aforementioned Batman: Arkham Shadow or Horizon: Call of the Mountain, triple-A virtual reality experiences have been few and far between in the last few years. And even then, while VR tech like the PSVR2 and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Meta Quest 3 are impressive, b🌳oth of which are able to connect to a PC for VR use, it's ultimately a market that's only having luck with multi-capabilities like the Quest 3’s passthrough cameras and productivity options. Even Valve has not released a headset since the Index in 2019.

However, it's rumored that Valve could be releasing a new VR headset as e🌠arly as late 2025.

Virtual reality is always going to be a smaller market in the gaming ecosystem, and that's okay - in fact, I think that's where it works best. But if VR is going to keep up the pacing, then it needs strong support. Meta and Valve are the frontrunners for both casual and premium tech in the VR space, so we don't need more attempts. And then, most triple-A studios have already given up on VR; sure, games like Resident Evil end up🐠 with VR support, but it's entirely secondary. However, triple-A doesn't mean better; it just means more money, so we'll continue to get a bunch of great, creative indie games for VR indefinitely.

Solution: It's time to make Half-Life the virtual reality series. Whether it's Half-Life 3 or another spin-off like Alyx, it should be an exclusive VR game that builds upon what Valve achieved with Alyx five years ago. From Half-Life to Portal, Valve is constantly aiming to establish new ground without churning out games for the sake of it. Half-Life 3 could have been an easy cash grab 20 years ago, but instead, people still want the series to deliver something special. And it can in VR, especially if Valve is cooking up something special with its nཧext headset.
