After the stunning conclusion of this yearâs Capcom CupAfter the stunning conclusion of this y♔ear’s Capcom Cup and the sudden release of Gill and a new balance patch, Capcom is wasting no time in building up hype for the next season of the Capcom Pro Tour. The release of Gill, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the reveal of Seth, and some long awaited balancing may all be the beginning of the grand finale of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Street Fighter V. Recent moves from Capcom and historical precedent show that the upcoming Champion Edition serves as the final run before next-gen consoles arrive, and perhaps Street Fighter VI with them.
Capcom sent shockwaves through the industry with the renewal of the long dead Dino Crisis trademark, but also made moves to potentially revive Power Stone, Darkstalkers and even Cyberbots. While it is possible that the 2021 Capcom Pro Tour could be headlined by Darkstalkers or Power Stone, it is possible that Capcom might either be looking to expand the Pro Tour’s titles being that neither title could eclipse Street Fighter in terms of sheer popularity.
The recent announcement from Capcom that next year’s Capcom Cup champion would not automatically be qualified for next year’s cup is perhaps the biggest indicator of a new headlining title. Capcom made the same adjustment to this rule in 2015 when it announced Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue would not be eligible for the 2016 finals. At that time, Ultra Street Fighter IV bowed out of competition upon Street Fighter V’s release the following Summer.
Yoshinori Ono also did say of Street Fighter V in 2020 that updates would be minimal ahead of the game as an event at the Tokyo Olympics, so it is entirely possible that February’s final add-on will serve as the finished product. With the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X making their debut next year, Capcom would be wise to hold off Street Fighter VI as a shock announcement for next year’s finale.
As for the other trademarks, a Dino Crisis remake is elementary at this point considering the success of Resident Evil 2 and the forthcoming Nemesis remake. Power Stone and Cyberbots are likely to be part of a compilation of older titles that have fallen by the wayside, but there is a good chance Capcom could finally bring Darkstalkers back to life. After a long, difficult run, Street Fighter V has finally gotten it right and a strong final year of competition should give fans plenty of hope and speculation of what VI can bring to the table.
