There’s a cheap Nintendo Switch in the works, and it 🌟might just launch this summer according to new rumors.

Nintendo is having a renaissance with the Switch. Last year, 17.5 million Switches were s꧋old, and this ye♌ar it's expected to climb to 18.5 million, according to analysts talking to .

Helping that along will be the ღintroduction of a cheaper Switch version that is reporꦫtedly in development.

According to two anonymous sources working in Nintendo, the less expensive version of the Switch will launch sometime at the end of June. There’s also a “modest upgrade” planned for the current Switch model but is 𝄹not significantly more powerful than the current one. This is a departure from the norm set by Sony and Microsoft which have both come out with more powerful versions of their consoles halfway through ♑their respective life cycles.

reported on these two Switch rumors back in March and compared them to the previous upgrades Nintendo has performed on the 3DS and 2DS sys🐬tems. Rather than a significant increase in power, Nintendo instead made refinements to the handheld’s design, getting rid of features that were unnecessary and improving aspect✨s that were well received.

Much how the 2DS compared to the 3DS, the less expensive version of the Switch will be sturdier and tougher. It will also be intended to be used eဣxclusively in handheld form as it won’t ship with a dock. It’s unknown whether this means docking functionality will be removed entirely or if it would need to be purchased separately.

The chea꧑p Switch will al🍌so remove some lesser-used features, such as the rumble functionality.

As for the more expensive Switch💞, expect it to have all the same features of the🅰 current Switch, but both feel and look better.

Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything at this point, so take these reports with a grain of salt. But this also follows with what Nintendo has done before for all their previous consoles, so𒐪 it seems like a sure bet.
