The concepts of "fate" and "destiny" are frequently tossed about in the realm of fiction. It's a common trope that there's a 'chosen one' whose destiny is to either bring about some kind of major change in the world or otherwise work to uphold the status quo.
While these destinies can seem positive on the surface, it's not always the case; many chosen ones are saddled with decidedly raw deals that end up hurting them or the ones they love. It's for this reason that they instead say "screw it" and fight against their destinies, secure in their resolve that nobody decides their future but themselves.
10 ꦺ Yuna - Final Fantasy 10 🔜
Yuna, along with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the other summoners of Spira, is tasked with undertaking a sacred pilgrimage by the followers of Yevon: she has to traveཧl the world, pray at the Fayth, and obtain power over the Aeons. This is all done with the ultima🌄te goal of obtaining the final Aeon, one powerful enough to destroy Sin.
As she and the party find out, though, this system is a huge sham, actually perpetuating the existence of Sin rather than destroying it. This is why all of them decide to enter Sin's body and destroy the entities powering it, so no summoner would have to sacrifice them to the cycle again.
9 Colette Brunel - Tales Of Symphonia 🦩
Colette is the Chosen of Sylvarant, which means she has, from a very young age, been expected to sacrifice herself to transform into an angel and restore the flow of power to the world. This is an extremely traumatic process, robbing her of her senses and bodily functions♚, but she still undertook it because it was her destiny.
In actuality, though, this process would actually just steal energy from another world, Tethe'Alla, in a back-and-forth that's been perpetrated by a powerful few for eons. At the last moment, she rejects her destiny and seeks to restore true balance between the two worlds.
8 Vella - Broken Age 🍎 ಞ
In all the villages of Vella's world, it's a well-understood rule that you do not mess with Mog Chothra, a gigantic eldritch beast that comes around every 14 years or so. In order to keep Mog Chothra from destroying everything, the people regularly hold a "Maiden's Feast," in which young women are offered up for Mog Chothra to devour.
Rather than let herself be eaten by the beast, though, Vella fights back, believing it to be ridiculous that the entire world would submit to the whims of a single monster. Turns out it is ridiculous because it's not even true; Mog Chothra is, and always has been, an elaborate ploy to steal young women to help repopulate an elitist civilization.
7 Liu Kang - Mortal Kombat 9 🌜 ဣ
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Liu Kang was or🤪iginalꦓly the chosen warrior of Earthrealm to fight back against Shao Kahn's invasion from Outworld. He was supposed to fight Shao Kahn and win, but due to Raiden's misguided understanding of a message from the future, ends up dead and revived as a revenant.
While this first part is debatably not Liu Kang's fault, he does continue to distort his destiny as a revenant by rising to become the king of Netherrealm, as well as becoming an agent for both Shinnok and Kronika. His destiny as the chosen warrior of Earthrealm was decisively thrown off, to say the least.
6 Yuuki Terumi - BlazB🍰l♏ue Series
Terumi is an agent of chaos, reveling in the pain and suffering of others. He destroys whatever he likes, regardless of whom he hurts, and gets a genuine thrill out of it, at least on the surface. However, that pleasure doubles as pain for him, because he knows that he was deliberately engineered by Amaterasu to be a chaotic destroyer deity.
No matter how much he destroys, he's just fulfilling his role, which means playing right into Amaterasu's hands. This is the reason he tries to obtain the power of the Azure, so he can destroy Amaterasu once and for all and finally become the arbiter of his own destiny, rather than a puppet on a stage.
5 The Protagonist - Per🅰sona 3 ꦿ
When the Protagonist was a child, a chance encounter with Aigis and the avatar of Death resulted in him having half of that avatar sealed inside him. When that half is unleashed in the form of Ryoji Mochizuki, he's given a dire choice: kill Ryoji and lose his memories of the Dark Hour, or let him live and be fully aware when Nyx, the concept of death itself, descends upon the world.
He's repeatedly told that Nyx will come and she cannot be defeated, so there's no point in trying. This is why the Protagonist simply... doesn't. Instead of fighting Nyx, he seals her away with his own life to ensure she can't get at humanity. It's a bit of a sad irony; he fought back against one destiny, death by Nyx, only to saddle himself with another debatably worse one.
4 Shuichi Saihara - Danganronpa V3🅺 🦩
In the climax of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Danganronpa V3, it is revealed that the Academy for Gifted Juveniles, the Gofer Project, and everything that the survivors had been fighting both for and ag🔯ainst were actually just a fabrication. "Danganronpa" is just a hyper-advanced, long-running reality show where 15 students are repeatedly locked into a killing game and made to battle "despair"🅠 in the name of "hope."
Shuichi, who ended up in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the protagonist role, is told he needs to defeat the Mastermind to "win." Instead, he denounces the entire show and resolves to end it completely, ple✱dging to stop the pointless sacrifice of innocents in the name of cheap entert🅺ainment.
3 ⛄ The Doom Slayer - Doom Eternal 🧸
Contrary to what the chaotic nature of demonkind may imply, the demonic invasion of Earth was very much premeditated. The original goal of this invasion was to sacrifice living souls en masse, which in turn would be used to power the civili🍎zation and longevity of the Maykr angels.
As a former member of the Night Sentinels, a sect of warriors that serve the interests of the Maykrs, the Doom Slayer was supposed to play a part in facilitating this invasion and transfer of power. Of course, being, y'know, the Doom Slayer, he said "no" and started loading a shotgun instead. You can probably guess what happened after that.
2 ༺ Aerith - Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Thanks to her connection to the Lifestream, Aerith is able to discern the will of the Whispers, the arbiters of fate that are trying to keep the events of the world on a predetermined track. Aerith knows that she's fated to be killed by Sephiroth, and tries to convince herself it's fine since he's ultimately defeated.
Even so, when the opportunity presents itself to diverge the timeline, Aerith decides to force things in a different direction with the help of Cloud and company. She knows that going this way could result in the planet's destruction at the hands of Sephiroth and Jenova, but she's willing to take the gamble if it means there's a chance for a truly happy ending.

Upon confronting the leader of the GETHJERK Armada, Jergingha, the Wonderful 100 are shocked to learn that he and his army were all sent from a horrible future where the entire universe is under the authoritarian boot of the Greater Galactic Coalition, a regime whose technology originated with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Wonderful Ones themselves.
