PlayStation 5 owners who pre-ordered B🤪lack Ops Cold War can now jump into the Earlyꦬ Access beta. According to the its – and comments from vocal Redditors – it seems like everything players complained about in the alpha has already been fixed.
Treyarch, the developer behind Black Ops Cold War, expressed its gratitude towards the community at the to💮p of the patch notes: "We'd be remiss if we didn't thank you for all of your feedback along the way. It has been invaluable to our team, and will ultimately help us continue to improve upon the overall gameplay experience as we approach the November 13 launch."
That's not just a bunch of fancy PR talk, either. went to painstakingly lengths to mention every single change made between the alpha and beta, then traced each change back to a specific reddit post discussing that very topic.🐽 For example, here are a few issues people brought up during the alpha and how Treyarch addressed the problems for t🦋he beta:
- Players complained that it felt like you were a "floating camera" during gameplay. Treyarch fixed the problem by disabling the Field of View increase while sprinting, resulting in a "smoother in-game view."
- Sliding felt weird in the alpha and slide cancelling was clearly OP. Now, slide speed is reduced and you need to sprint for longer before being allowed to perform a slide.
- Recoil patterns felt janky – they've been reworked with "new weapon recoil systems" and the team also "rebalanced all recoil patterns, impacting weapon balance and mastery across the board."
- Players also complained about how guns sounded while being fired, something that has been improved thanks to the addition of "bass and punch to all weapon sounds by adjusting master EQ and compression output."
The list goes on like that at length, and the comments continue in a similar vein. There's no doubt that the developers at Treyarch are actively listening to the community. It's refreshing to see a dev so engaged with its audience, adding and removing content based on the thoughts of players. If things improve as much as they did from alpha to beta, Black Opꦛs Cold War is going to be a hell of a gam♒e when it releases on November 13.
