Chel Wong, the award-winning composer for Kine, OnlyCans, and Whisker Squadron, has issued an apology video on YouTube for her behavior at GDC last m𒉰onth. According to Wong, she tested positive for COVID-19 twice and yet still decided to attend an outdoor event alongs꧂ide hundreds of other people at GDC.
"At GDC 2022, I wasn't feeling well on the morning of Wednesday. I took a COVID test at my hotel and it came up positive. I took an official test at Moscone and it came up positive again, and my badge was turned in, and I told my panel that I got COVID, and I made plans to call in remotely for it," explained Wong .
"On Thursday, though, I went to Yerba Bue💯na Gardens and for this, I deeply apologize. M𒅌y actions affect so many people beyond me.
"I took a risk because it was an open-air area and I was double-masked and socially distant, but that does not matter. That was unfair to those around me. It was selfish, and I am so sorry that I didn't prioritize people's well-being. In the future, I will always prioritize the health of those around me instead of parking or making excuses."
Wong is finding herself the center of . "People said a lot of terrifying things. People are still saying a lot of terrifying things," Wong said, adding that she understands she's "not entitled to forgiveness."
A few responses to Wong's apology attempt to justify her actions by claiming , although that shouldn't absolve someone who still socialized knowing they had COVID.
