If you’re tired of all the p🌱layed out, standard fare that comes with the survival horror genre, an upcoming Kickstarter campaign from independent video game studio, Catchweight, might be just the thing to pique your interest.

Yesterday, the for Catchweight’s debute title, CONSCRIPT, while being a featured selection in the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition ജwith a playable demo.

To celebrate the exciting launch, a brand-new Kickstarter trailer was released, showing off the game’s gameplay along with what players can expect to be waiting for them in the ౠdark, pixelated trenches.

CONSCRIPT will put players in the boots of a young French Army soldier named Andre, who, along with his brother, iꦆs fighting against the opposing Germans for control of Fort de Vaux in the Battle of Verdun during World War I. Andre🦩 eventually winds up incapacitated, but awakes to find that his bother is gone. As Andre, players will be tasked with searching for Andre’s brother while navigating the war-torn countryside and encountering the horrors that the war has brought forth.

Immediately, the top-dow❀n, p🗹ixelated design will be what catches most players’ eyes, looking reminiscent of games like 1995’s Loaded, which was released on the original PlayStation. However, rather than just enemy soldiers, players will also have to contend with the monsters waiting in the dark, while solving puzzles that will be encountered along the way. Of cours🌼e, weaponry and item resource management will also play a vital role in Andre’s 🍎survival, especially considering the fact the CONSCRIPT is inspired🎃 by other survival horror titles ♉such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

JD - the sole-developer of CONSCRIPT - is anticipating a Q2 2021 release on PC via St🐻eam, but interested players should be aware that this release window is tentative. The hope is to also eventually port the game to consoles, but again, this is still entirely up in the air at the moment. A closed beta for the game is planned for January 2021 for backers of the Adjudant tier (which is roughly $42), so those int🏅erested had better hurry and back the project before it ends on July 16th.
