Throughout your time in Control, Jesse is able to find several mentions of various AWEs, or Altered World Events, that have transpired before the most recent of these in which the events of the game take place. While not all of these AWEs are mentioned in detail, the player is gi🎶ven enough backstory on the majority of them to have a basic understanding of what occurred.
Some of these events seem relatively minor, at least when it comes to how the ageℱnts of the FBC describe them in their reports, though the reality and nature of these events are often incredibly bizarre and strange, even by Control's standards.
10 Fra Mauro
One of the strangest AWEs involved a team of three astronauts on Apollo 14, as they were met with an entity while exploring the Fra Mauro highlands on the moon. After returning from this mission, all three astronauts were convinced that there was, in fact, a fourth member of their crew, who appeared as an empty Extravehicular Mobility Suit, or EMU suit, on their return. The physiology of the entity is entirely unknown as the s𓆉uit appe🔯ars to be hollow, though removing pieces of the suit apparently agitates them. The suit itself is also damaged, which may have occurred during re-entry as the shuttle didn't possess a fourth seat for the entity to be strapped down into.
9 Butte
A recurring item in Control is the Light Switch Cord, which allows the user to traverse to and from the Oceanview Motel. While the cord itself is unclassifi🍸ed, as it is apparently neither an Altered Item nor an Object of Power, the A🥂WE surrounding the cord is fairly well documented in Control. After investigating a series of disappearances in a local celebrity's house, two agents vanished after using the cord, only to be discovered days later inside a sealed section of the Oldest House. While the cord is undefined, the Oceanview Motel is listed as a Place of Power, similar to Cauldron Lake and the Oldest House.
8 Kyiv
Based on a real-world event, the Kyiv AWE centers on a bizarre noise that could be heard from Kyiv, Ukraine, though the sound would later be heard in many other places in the world. So far, the FBC has no real idea of what made the sound, though the most prevalent theory is "planar fricti💃on".
The cause of the real-world version of this eveꦆnt is alsoꦯ unknown, with recordings of the noise recurring over the course of several years with no real explanation. Running theories range from the more innocuous source of trains and construction to more outlandish theories like alien spaceships.
7 ꩲ 🎃 Eagle Limited
While paracriminal groups are mentioned ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚseveral times in memos found in Control, there is very little information given on what they actually do, with the exception of one event. The Eagle Limited AWE came about as a direct result of interference by a paracriminal group operating out of the American Midwest, going so far as to blow up an entire train's worth of people in order to create an Alteredℱ Item. While they were successful, the derailment caused the deaths of 62 people, with many more being injured, while the Altered Item was transported to the FBC for analysis.
6 Albany
After seeing numerous message boards tal𓆏k about strange noises coming from an abandoned shipping yard in Albany, New York, the FBC sent agents to investigate, only to discover several bodies in various states of dismemberment. The a﷽gents on the scene theorized that it was the result of werewolves due to the lunar cycle that preceded each event and the state of the casualties, though it was later revealed to be the world of the Hand Chair Altered Item. This item later breaks containment and needs to be reclaimed by Jesse before being returned to the Containment Sector, as its volatile nature requires that it be sealed off.
5 Meteor💧♛ Hill
The Meteor Hill AWE is qui♏te an old event compared to most others that you can find out about in Control, as the memo surrounding it states that it needs to be updated as several terminologies are outdated. Taking place in 1958 in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, the Meteor Hills AWE surrounds several sinkholes that appeared in the area, resulting in several injuries as a hole collapsed around the Youth Science League, as well as when some of the children decided to interact with a magma-like substance that appeared in said sinkholes. A small amount of the substance was returned to the FBC for analysis, though the majority of it sank into the earth before agents could retrieve it.
4 Keystone
Similar to the Ordinary AWE, the Keystone AWE was an unknown event that resulted in the disappearance of all of the residents in the🌊 town, as well as two FBC agents who were suspected of defecting from the agency. Whether or not they were involved in the event or a victim of it is unknown, though Keystone was under investigation by the FBC before the event occurred.
The only clue that something paranatural occurred in Keystone, aside from its m🍷issing residents, is a mysterious symbol that appeared on several buildings, two rings interlocked with a dot at the center. This symbol also appears inside the Oceanview Motel, which may indicate that the residents were transported toꦏ this dimension.
3 𓆏 Quantum Break AWE ꧙
Although not an official AWE that players can find information on in Control, there are several clues in Quantum Break that can lead players to believe that it was some form of AWE. In one of the opening levels in the game, there are several instances of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:AWE being graffitied on walls, while there is also chatter online after a Quantum Ripple that claims the existence of a "Bureau o𓆉f Altered World Events" that is connected with Monarch Solutions, though🍨 this connection is never confirmed in Control.
2 Ordinary
The event that resulted in Jesse eventually finding the FBC and the Oldest House, the Ordiඣnary AWE was the result of an Object of Power, the Slide Projector, being used repeatedly for Jesse, Dylan, and their friends to enter different planes of existence. One such plane housed Polaris, while another house a malevolent entity known to Jesse as the Not-Mother, which may have caused all of the adult residents in Ordinary to disappear and had a disturbing attachment to the children of the town, turning them into what Jesse and Dylan called "Dung Monkeys" before attacking the siblings. It was only with Polaris' intervention that Not-Mother was banished and the town was saved, though only a handful of residents survived the event.
1 🍌 🐭 Bright Falls
The biggest AWE by far is th⛄at which surrounds the events of Al💫an Wake. According to the FBC, Bright Falls has been the center of a recurring AWE for several decades, with the earliest known event dating back to 1970 and involving the in-universe rock band Old Gods of Asgard. Bright Falls is also the location of a Place of Power, Cauldron Lake, which apparently leads to the Dark Place. By the end of the AWE Expansion, it is clear that another Bright Falls AWE is going to occur, as Langston receives a report of the event dated several years into the future.
