Remedy Entertainment's brand new sci-fi action-adventure game, Control, seems to be ahead of its time in both gameplay content and software, as players with older PS4s have reported that the game struggles greatly to run on the console. With Control's cutting edge graphics and gameplay, t🐠he earlier PS4 hardware is having difficulty running the game smoothly, with some players that it's borderline unplayable.

This doesn't come as much of a surprise, as other gamers, such as IGN's Jonathan Dornbush, have that even on a PS4 Pro, Control's frame rate tends to drop ev🌠ery now and then. Especially in situations when there are a lot of enemies on screen, players have experienced a fair amount of lag on even the PS4 Pro, making it believable that trying to play the game on a launch console is more than a headache.

Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind games like Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and the Max Payne series, have been working on Control since 2017, and the game has received a great deal of hype since its announcement. Admittedly, it looks as though their work has paid off, as Control is receiving positive reviews from critics and g🎉amers alike, although the reception from those who bought the game to play on an earlier PS4 might not be as optimistic.

Gamers have already erupted online in frustration in describing the issue. On a post, user CatchrFreeman explained that the frame rate drops severely in a destructible area with a large number of enemies. They went on to specifically mention the Service Weapon's "charge", explaining hꦚow the frame rate drops every time you use it due to the weapons particle effects and explosions. The user expressed hope that Remedy will add a patch some time soon that will resolve these issues, but they also mentioned that they don't regret pre-ordering the game despite its technical difficulties.

Based on the reception since its launch, Control is a great game, although it would probably have fit better within the world of the next generation of consoles. Experiencing serious frame rate issues definitely warrants frustration, and one might argue that Sony is almost forcing PS4 owners to upgrade to the PS4 Pro if they want to run the latest games without problems.
