Sure, that’s great, but it gets old fast if there’s nothing else to glue it all together. Coral Island finds a new angle and raises the bar in the process with the 1.1 update.

While the update is still in beta testing, what’s accessible is promising. Once y🏅ou restore Starlet Town to its former glory, it’s time to set your sights on the ocean. The seafloor has been cleaned up and healed by the time you save the town from the villa꧃inous Karen and her corporate greed, and there are more mysteries to uncover beneath the waves.

Without delving into spoiler territory, this is exactly what the cozy genre needs. Coral Island feels like a whole new world, as exploring the underwater presents new opportunities beyond the day-to-day chores of tending a farm. There’s a new farm to unlock, along with more puzzles to fully restore the ocean. While it’s nothing new mechanically, it reinforces the idea that there’s still more to discover in life after you complete you🌟r main goal. Whether you’re married or single (or somewhere in between), you can start fresh beneath the waves.

The brand new farm underwater feels reminiscent of the Fae Realm in Fae Farm, but arguably better. With your new real estate investment comes more obligation to become sustainable – one of the﷽ major themes in Coral Island. I feel guilty not picking up trash I find 🌞now because it inevitably ends up on the bottom of the ocean floor.

Aside from the farm, the merfolk are just starting to warm up to you. While Semeru gives oౠff a cold aura, you can give him a beer and he’ll grow fond of you faster. Princess Miranjani’s only wish is to explore the surface world, and you can help her dreams come true. By the time most players reach this point in the game, they’re likely to have already established themselves on the surface…

If anything, I feel encouraged to start a new farm from scratch and only focus⛎ on the merfolk to see how far I can get on my own.

The new addition expands upon the game, adding more depth to the established world and characters. There’s still so much to learn – and theories to confirm – about th🍸e rich histories of the people in Starlet Town and their conne📖ction to the merfolk.

I never knew how badly I craꦇved an underwater fantasy farming sim — even though Stardew Valley includes mermaids and Fae Farm introduces the Faeries — until Coral Island delivered the merfolk. There’s something about the glistening waves and shimmering tails that call𓆉s to me. I’m happy to beta test this new update until everything is sorted out so more players can see how extraordinary Coral Island is.

Despite my love of Fae Farm, my biggest complaint is that it falls flat when it comes to meaningful rela꧟tionships. It’s cute, but there&rsq🤪uo;s little beneath the surface.

We don’t just want another farming sim that ends with a marriage and a happy town, we want relationships that flourish in the next stage of life and a reason to keep living.
