Wireless gaming mice often have a bad rap – and for good reason. If you're serious about , the risks of input lag, dead batteries, and discon🏅nects outweighs any potential conveniences.

But Cougar is setting out to change the game when it comes to wireless mice with the Surpassion RX. The mouse boasts a 20hr battery life and promises little to no input lag to speak of. In essence, the elevator pitch behind this thing is all the performance of a wired mous꧋e, with the convenience of no cables and the comfort of the best ergonomic mice.

I'm not entirely sure about all that, but for my money, the Surpassion RX is a serviceable mouse that feels remarkably good to hold. It's a bit on the spartan side, with less buttons and RGB settings than its flashier competitors, but there's something to be said for a solid build and comfor🅺table grip.

The Surpassion meets both those💜 criteria and then some. Where wireless mice often feel a bit too flimsy for my liking, Cougar's product has a weight to it ꧅that feels great - especially when it comes to shooters. That heft is matched by its comfortable, grooved grip that fit easily in my hands and didn't leave my fingers dragging on my desk.

As far as performance goes, my experience was decidedly mixed. Over the few months I tested this thing out, it didn't always give the lasting performance I wanted. That promise of no control jitteriness at lower battery life is mostly true, but there were rare exceptions where it started lagging in the middle of crucial moments during Apex games. It's that꧂ classic wireless mouse problem, and while it's markedly less of an issue here, it's still frustrating.

Also frustrating i▨s unreliability of the battery meter. The battery༒ life is noticeable, but when it drops, it drops rapidly and quickly dies. I've seen it go from near full to almost empty in remarkably short periods of time – not exactly ideal. You can actually charge the mouse via a cable and use it while it charges, but at that point, why not just use a wired mouse?

Still, out of all my experiences using wireless mice, the Surpassion RX is a mostly positive one. It's not enough to woo me away from wire🌼d mice, but it's a solid product and definitely should be your first choice when it comes to wireless mice.
