Don't Panic Games and Mana Project Studio have jointly announced a partnership with Sunrise . “Players will live through their own stories of bounty hunters in space," reads the joint statement, "in a jazzy universe blending Western, Film Noir, and buddy cop movies, accompanied by one of the best anime soundtracks in history.”

We're not exactly sure how the RPG will be accompanied by a soundtrack, but worst comes to it, you can just play the Cowboy Bebop OST on Spotify.

The game will be designed by Fumble, who recently won the 2020 Italian Game of the Year award for writing Not The End (which was also꧒ published by Mana Project). The game will be Kickstarted in 2022 with an expected launch by the end of next year.

No details of the RPG were provided, although we already know plenty of the Cowboy Bebop universe courtesy of the anime. In the year 2071, Earth has been destroyed by some unknown calamity, forcing humanity to colonize the solar system to survive. However, that rapid expansion has led to an even faster increase in crime, with criminal organizations running rampant. The world governments offer bounties to bring these criminals to justice, although often it's only enough to get you through to the next bounty.

This isn’t the first time Cowboy Bebop has been turned into a game. Don't Panic published , a deckbuilder where you play as characters from the anime, back in 2019.
