The first 🅘gameplay details for Crash Bandicoot Wumpa League have been revealed by gaming insider Liam Robertson, alongside some beta footage of the game during the early stages of its development.
Following the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, Toys for Bob started teasing a new project for the series on social media, using a logo that featured a Wumpa fruit surrounded by red and orange stripes. However, when 168澳洲幸运5开💜奖网:Toys for Bob was moved to work on C💦all of Duty (alongside the rest of Activision Blizzard), teasing for the project stopped completely, and it was presumed to be scrapped. That seems to no longer be the case, however, as a recent press kit for It's About Time's Steam release points to a reveal at The Game Awards.
Now, gaming insider Liam Robertson, who was one of the first to report on Wumpa League back when it was first teased, , as well as showing some early development footage of the project. Robertson notes that most of the information and footage is from the game's development before 2020, so it's not necessarily representative of the game now.
Ac🔜cording to Robertson, Wumpa League is a "team-based competitive online multiplayer game" that has two teams of Crash characters competing for the most Wumpa fruit. A piece of concept art shared by Robertson shows a bunch of Crash characters, some created for Wumpa League, running towards a golden Wumpa on a pedestal.
During its initial development, Wumpa League ran on the Crash Bandicoot 4 engine, although it was tweaked for more open environments and characters. Robertson also reveals some exclusive footage from early in the game's development that shows a multiplayer match in action, albeit looking like something out of Roblox.
The footage shows Dingodile running around an arena collecting Wumpa Fruits to bring back to his team. Gameplay looks to have been very focused on platforming. Each character was also reportedly armed with a parachute they can use to glide around the levels, whic🦩h matches a leak from last month that detailed unique gliders that can ༺be earned. Although we only see one level, Robertson reports that they were all intended to have unique elements, such as a toxic wave that periodically washes over the🐈 map.
Although the footage is clearly very early, Robertson also confirms that he's seen more recent gameplay footage that he's not allowed to share yet, seemingly confirming that the project is still on and that it's likely what's being teased for The Game Awards.
