Hello, Critters! Last week's episode of had cast members and viewers at the edge of their seats (including me chanting "they're not going to make it" nearly the ꦑwhole second half of the episode). Episode 105 of Campaign 2 of the show featured some great moments such as yet another hacker episode, Yasha's story of redemption, Jester reflecting on her deity, humorous magical accidents, and combat with a powerful adversary.
Spoilers ahead for Campaign 2, Episode 105 of Critical Role.
More Hackers
Nord VPN sponsore🉐d Critical Role again, which led to more hacking shenanigans. This time Ashley was roped into the mix as she joined Taliesin in trying to hack their way to save Sam and Laura. I think everyone is surprised that this ad series for Nord VPN has lasted as long as it has, but I am totally here for it.
Yasha's Redemption
In the midst of planning their attack on Vokodo, the DM interrupted the sleep of Yasha for the sake of some awesome character development. The imagery of Yasha regaining her missing feathers from her Aasimar wings was included in a few episodes leading up to this point, bu𓃲t her latest dream from the Storm Lord represented another huge step in her character growth and redemption story. This moment is quite beautiful and is best experienced by watching the dream unfold at the table, as dream Yasha spread her wings and took a leap of courage.
Jester and the Traveler
Jester explained to the rest of the Mighty Nein in this tearful moment that🃏 she was disappointed to learn that the Traveler knew of the memory loss-related dangers of this island, and did not warn Jester or any of his other followers. Jester wrestled between the memory of the Traveler she once knew as a girl, who became her friend when she was lonely, and the current morally ambiguous Traveler she knows now, who was potentially willing to subject his followers to the dangers of the island with 🐬little thought about their safety.
Beau and Caduceus Get Banished
Ever wonder what really happens to the target of a Banishment𝓀 spell? Beau and Caduceus both find out in this episode; Banishment was cast on Vokodo, only for it to reflect off its body and onto the two unfortunate victims. Luckily, Beau and Caduceus, although separated and in a different plane than the one they call home, were protected by the effects of the battlefield as they chill for a🎃 few turns in the Astral Plane.
Vokodo's Demise
This battle against the 'big bad' of this island, Vokodo, was quite intense. The tension for this fight had been building ever since the Mighty Nein stepped foot on Rumblecusp a few episodes ago, and culminated in an epic battle in his lair. As referenced in the last moment, things were a little up and down for thꦯe Mighty Nein, but ultimately they claimed victory with Caleb dealing the final blow.
