Although Croc only appeared in two games on the PS1, both titles were absolute classics that sold well and shone a bright future for the green little guy to take his place among the genre's greats. Both Croc and Argonaut Games deserved a much better fate and, even though it's taken nearly two decades, it looks like things are finally starting to look up. After 𝕴having been teased last year as being in "early development"ꦬ by Argonaut Games founder Jez San, a remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobb🍌os has officially been unveiled and𓆏 announced for release at some point in 2024.

, the remastered version of Legend of the Gobbos features vastly improved visuals that make Croc pop like never before. That's not all, though, as the re-release includes updated modern controls that should bring the legendary lizard back to the platforming forefront. A new "Crocipedia" featuring tons of behind-the-scenes footage and assets will also be added.

There's no word just yet on Croc 2 getting a remaster, but here's hoping that Legend of the Gobbos HD is a sign of things to come.

It's not just Croc that's returning, as Argonaut Games, the studio responsible for Croc (and !), is also being reformed after being liquidated in 2007. The press release confirms that the studio is making a comeback "as a boutique publisher" with a planned slate of "classic Argonaut IP" and original new games for current and retro consoles.

Not much is known about what Argonaut Games has planned for the future beyond Croc but considering how long fans have been asking about the lizard making a comeback, it's a very strong start.
