There have been many discussion-worthy weapons throughout the Call of Duty series, including the throwing knife and Model 1887 from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the Desert Eagle that made its first appearance in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and a host of others. The crossbow is one of the more🧔 infamou🃏s, and it's now in 2019's .

As per , Infinity Ward's Senior Communications Manager, Ashton Williams, sent out a  confirming much of the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update.

The tweet from Williams can be seen below.

As noted above, the update includes the addition of five more loadout slots, a pꩵatch to issues of player collision, and the aforementioned Crossbow. Unlike the usual method of unlocking weapons by leveling up, however, the Crossbow requires players to complete a challenge.

While some may see the update as a win and a positive from Infinity Ward to some degree, some former and current Modern Warfare players have taken issue with it since it fails to fix other prominent issues. For example, multiple commenters in the tweet thread to♕ok issue with the lack of a mention of a fix to skill-based matchmaking. Some had even indicated that they believe the game is unplayable with skill﷽-based matchmaking.

On the other hand, some, like Twitter user replied that few appear to be happy with the content drip provided to Modern Warfare players.

As for players' reactions to the addition of th൩e Crossbow weapon, some had either expressed disinterest or upsetness toward the throwback weapon. Twitter user specifically pointed out that Infinity Ward would be better off balancing its existing weapons before it continues t✃o add new ones– throwbacks or otherwise.

The Crossbow originally appeared in 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops and was beloved for i♉ts somewhat comical nature but required skill in order to accurately land an explosive arrow on an opponent.

As for reactions to the update overall, it is tough to always please a passionate audience. Of course, the issue of skill-based matchmaking has been at the top of many players' lists for a while now, so Infinity Ward may be wise to listen to fan demand there. However, as others have pointed out, it's promising that the developer continually rolls out updates and patches for Modern Warfare.
