Monster Rancher 2 was first released in 1999 for the PlayStation. It is the second installment in the series for Japan and North America but only the first entry in the series for Europe. The gameplay consists of players raising, battling, and breeding monsters, however the main character is never seen — leaving all of the talking and action to be done by the trainer's assistant. The story is largely non-linear and begins with the main character registering to become a trainer. Sound familiar? While on paper it reads like a Pokémon spin-off, Monster Rancher 2 follows dif♈ferent mechanics and designs. It is still a favorable game with a cult following that has see✨n massive success in Japan.
