Production IG's franchise follows Motoko, a cyborg with a troubled past who works as an agent for the elusive Section 9. Section 9 specializes in cyberterror prevention, and tends to find themselves in embroiled in vast conspiracies punctuated by acts of violent terrorism. The TV series, Stand Alone Complex, focuses more on those crimes, whereas the movies are basically sequels that deal with Mo🎐toko separating herself from Section 9.
It's the perfect time to jump in, too, with SAC_2045 about to drop on Netflix. SAC_2045 is a spiritual successor to Stand Alone Complex, and is headed up by the original director. The series is the first all-CG entry in the franchise's long history, and aims to be a jumping-in point for new fans. With how hit or miss it is to c🌼onsume every other incarnation of the franchise, this will probably be newcom🅺ers' best bet.
