We’re almost two months away from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, and we know surprisingly little about it. This seems to be by design, with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:CD Projekt Red taking a much more ta༺ctile, gameplay-focused approach to its promotion than it did with the base game back in 2020. And for good reason.

Speaking with TheGamer about this change of pace, CDPR wasn’t in any rush to reflect on Cyberpunk 2077’s disastrous launch - something that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one hig𝓀her-up at the company feels was overblown. But even so, it&rꦑsquo;s the elephant in the room, and clearly the reason that the company is so cagey about its upcoming expansion.

“As we announced in our RED 2.0 strategy back in March 2021, we wanted to create shorter marketing campaigns in the months leading up to launch,” says senior PR manager, Ola Sondej. “[This is] much like our pre-launch promotion for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the next-gen update for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

“Our focus when promoting Phantom Liberty is showing players what they can expect when the expansion launches - as with our Phantom Tour, which will give players across the world an opportunity to try out a hands-on demo on all platforms.&rওdquo;

The Phantom Tour will kick off next month, and is a far cry from the Cyberpunk 2077 hype train. Even months before its launch in December 2020, hands-on demos were hard to come by. And looking back at the previews we did get, they certainly didn’t match up with the product many experienced on release. But with CDPR now inviting everyone to come and try Phantom Liberty out a month before launch, there’s less time to cut features and more room for a larger pool of players to keep an eye out for any discrepancies. In othe🥂r words, it looks like the gameplay will do the talking this time, not Keanu Reeves, and not even newcomer Idris Elba.

That does𒐪n’t mean Phantom Liberty isn’t launching into any controversy, however. As Sondej reminded me twice during our quick chat, Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t getting much support beyond this expansion.

“As always, we plan to provide support for our game after its releas🐟e,” says Sondej, “[But] Phantom Liberty will be the one and only expansion.”

It’s the same response I receive when trying to tease out any details on the future of V and Johnny as characters, even beyond the limitations of Cyberpunk 2077. Anyone hoping to see their story continue in the📖 next game might be out of luck.

However, it’s this lack of clarification that is causing confusion in the fanbase right now. After Phantom Liberty was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:sh💙owcased over the⭕ Summer Game Fest season, some fans were worried CDPR was underselling the expansion. In a post-reveal interview, creative director Paweł Sasko proudly boaꦯsted that Phan𝓡tom Liberty isn’t just DLC, with so much of the base game being &ldqu🅺o;redone or updated in a major way” that it became much more than that. With so much being promised for this expansion, the hype is high once again. Those expecting changes to the base game’s story might want to temper their expectations.

“Part of the changes and tweaks we created during the development process of Phantom Liberty will be available to all players in a free update, but neither the update nor Phan💖tom🎐 Liberty will change the pre-existing narrative,” says Sondej.

Sondej did confirm one previous report though: &ldqu🍸o;Phantom Liberty will add a new ending to the base game for players to experience.”

The assumption from fans is that this new ending will let both V and Johnny survive the main story. But Sondej also indicated that their story isn’t likely to continue anytime soon - and that any new Cyberpunk changes won’t alter the “pre-existing narrative” - so it could be much smaller than that. It might just be that the characters from Phantom Liberty will make a♋n appearance, as figures from the main narrative can influence the base game’s ending. That would certainly tie into any discussions on the future of V being shut down.

Phantom Liberty is Cyberpunk 2077’s final hurrah, despite all the new players brought in by the Edgerunners anime. It’s a strange ending, one which players on Xbox One and PS4 won’t even get t🌞oꦺ experience. But it’s a str🐲onger place ꦓthan many of us expected to see back in late 2020.

With CDPR not feeling too ꦐchatty about the future of its characters, and marketing campaigns getting shorter, it will likely be a long time until we hear about Cyberpunk 2077 again. Or whatever its sequel may be. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait and see if Phantom Liberty makes up for so much lost potential, and shows th꧂at lessons have been learned from the base game disaster - even if some would like to forget it ever happened.
