Much like frogs in the real world, ribbets can take on many different colors, from cool or bright tones t💫o more earthy or swamp-based colors.

Typically, ribbets are relatively short in stature, ranging from about three to four feet tall. However, all ribbets primarily move by hopping.

They also have two main features as part of their ancestry, detailed below.

Ancestry Feature

Details

Amphibious

Like many types of frogs in the real world, ribbets can breathe and move naturally underwater without any encumbrance or nerfs.

Long Tongue

All ribbets have an exceptionally long tongue, just like many real amphibians.

As a ribbet, you can use your tongue to grab onto things within a Close range. When you do so, mark a Stress to use your tongue as a Finesse Close weapon, which can deal 1d12 physical damage using your Profic🎃ienc🅷y.

Daggerheart has a variety of descriptive terms for range, including Close Range.

If something is Close, that means that it is typically about 10-30 feet away from you, mꦆeaning you can use your Long ꦜTongue feature on enemies up to 30 feet away.

While their amphibious nature and underwater breathing can prove useful, the ribbet's Long Tongue feature is the best feature to inform your class selection.

This feature can synergize with a handful of class features,🦂 as detailed below, which can help with your overall character ꧃build.

Class

Details

Troubadour Bard

The foundation feature of this subclass allows you an ability called Epic Song, which allows you to make a target within Close range of you temporarily Vulnerable.

If an enemy is Vulnerable, that means you have advantage on rolls again🍸st said creature, which can synergize well with your Long Tong♕ue attack.

Warden of the Elements Druid

The specialization feature for this subclass allows you to potentially affect enemies within Close range in several negative ways.

Weakening enemies within Close range and then following up with a Long Tongue attack can prove great fun in combat.

Nightwalker Rogue

The specialization feature for this subclass allows you to make a Spellcast Role (15) and subsequently obscure an area within Close range with a dark cloud.

This means you can potentially trap enemies within Close range of you, perfect for onc𝄹e again using your Long Tongue attack.

What Communities Work Best For Ribbets?

When it comes to communities for ribbets, most of the community features can work well with this ancestry. However, two communities make a lot of narrative sense for ribbet characters, as detailed below.

Community

Details

Seaborne

Obviously, seaborne makes a lot of narrative sense as a community for riඣbbets, given their amphibious nature.

This community is all about living near large bodies of water. Some even live on the open sea itself. Plus, this community's feature allows you to gain bonuses to rolls whenever you roll with Fear, which can prove highly powerful.

Wildborne

Wildborne community members are right at home in nature and are often naturally stealthy.

Because ribbets make for great druids and rogues, this community makes a lot of conceptual sense for ribbets, especially given the Lightfoot feature, ♋which allows you to roll with advantage when trying not to be heard while moving.
