More big changes are coming out o🔥f Dallas following the release of Gui-un "Decay" Jang as the Fuel announced they have parted ways with head coach Aaron "Aero" Atkins as well as assistant coach Louis "Tikatee" Lebel-Wong. It's the start of a new direction for the Dallas Fuel that will be interesting to see play out the rest of the 2020 season, into 2021 and beyond.
At first glance, the Dallas organization looks like a sinking ship. Unfortunately, the Fuel have been a sinking ship throughout all three seasons of the Overwatch League so far. Aero was hired about halfway through the inaugural 2018 season to turn around the Dallas Fuels woes from the beginning of the season. His time with Fusion University was incredibly impressive and the hopes he could bring that winning culture to the Fuel was on everyone's minds. Fast forward to the 2020 season soon ending and that winning culture has never come to fruitꦏion.
The biggest highlight of Aero's cꩵareer came in the 2019 Overwatch World Cup as he helped coach Team USA to a championship, marking the first time a team other than South Korea came out of the World Cup as champions.
Along with releasing DP💖S player Decay and Aero at the head coach posi🐠tion, the Dallas Fuel also released assistant coach Tikatee. In place of the changes, the Fuel have promoted Yong-Jin "Yong" Kim as the interim head coach for presumably the remainder of the 2020 season. After that, it's likely an entire new direction for the team is coming.
The Dallas Fuel have a passionate fan base with some strong talent still left on the roster. They have just had a rough go of it throughout the first three seasons of the league. It's gonna be a long process moving forward, but the hope is Dallas can jump that sinking ship beꦛfore it's lost forever.
